If we havnt got 2 that can do the job dont play 2.
Id be very surprised if Doherty and Lyon take 20 wickets between them for the series

People would have said the same thing about Krezja or Clarke taking bags

In India an average spinner becomes better than a good bowler.

Look at England I'm sure most would rate Broad, Bresnan, Finn alot better than monty Panesar but in India he becomes a world beater.

Panesar is average but still far better than anything we have.
Clarke should bowl more.
Krezja is a far better bowler than Doherty, im sorry but Doherty is rubbish

The spinner is Clarke so he better get fit. Pick you best 4. Thats it.

Bird will.be important with his swing. Anderson bowled well here and got the ball to reverse and was a handful.

I think Siddle will struggle on the dead decks but Pattinson or Starc could be useful as they do tend to get a bit of movement.

The indians will go after Lyon and thats good. Because it gives him a chance to take a few wickets.

When the home team is most likely to play 3 spinners you can't play 3 specialist pacemen.

They have to and they will play two spinners!

Could be wrong but I was told today by a cricket guru (lol) the last test side to win a series in India with one specialist spinner was the windies in the early 90's or late 80's

Lyon, Clark and Warner to chip with a few overs. Are we really going to pick doherty over a quick or Smith or Maxwell over a batsmen?

Doherty doesn't turn the ball. I call him a slow bowler.

He will on the Indian decks!!!

some people act like they have never seen cricket on the sub continent before, if McGrath, Lee, Gillespie couldn't get the job done what makes us think any of our current pace combinations could

Whilst I agree with that, id still rather a quick than Doherty
Warne struggled over there, his average was double that of anywhere else.
If probably the greatest bowler ever struggled there how will Doherty go?
He would struggle to knock over a park side

Good bowler at the shorter form, contains batsmen rather than get them out.
Will struggle to take 8 -10 wickets for the series

Warne struggled but traditionally the finger spinners have been more damaging in the sub continent than the wrist spinners (kumble) being the exception.

Think this is Siddle and Bird's first game since the new years test.
The hitout will do them well.
