Shame File: Your worst albums as ranked by 'Rate Your Music'

Postby Rik E Boy » Fri May 18, 2007 1:34 pm

Time to have some more fun with Rate Your Music. A while back I got people to list their top 20 albums as ranked by RYM. This time I want you to list your worst 20 albums as ranked by this site. Man there are some shockers here with artists such as Limp Bizkit, Aaron Carter, New Kids on the Block copping a caning and Kiss not fairing all that well either.

Name Your Shame!

1. (27) Limp Bizkit: Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavoured Water. Yes I own this album. Yes it does suck.
2. (332) Jimmy Page: Outrider. The 80's were not kind to my favourite axeman.
3. (534) Led Zeppelin: Coda. A little harsh as there are some good songs on this. Probably bagged for what it wasn't rather than what it was.
4. (756) Garbage: Beautifulgarbage. Yeah, this album does have some duds on it.
5. (839) Pink Floyd: A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Ack. I love this album. A bit rude IMO.
6. (1058) Judas Priest: Ram it Down. Agreed. Not one of their better releases. Someone gave it to me.
7. (1181) Silverchair: Freakshow. I quite like this album. Has a few flat spots but overall a good listen.
8. (1257) Underworld: Underneath the Radar. This one kind of grew on me but like many, I bought it because I liked the single.
9. (1310) Robert Plant: Now and Zen. Robert goes commercial and oh so 80's although Ship of Fools is a great song.
10.(1403) Kiss: Dynasty. I love Dynasty but Kiss takes a real pounding on this site. Dynasty was about the 10th Kiss album I spotted on the 'bottom' chart.
11.(1560) Korn: Follow the leader. Darn University. Darn Nu-Metal. Has it's moments but very much a 'headphones' album.
12.(1592) Blink 182: Enema of the State. This is the one Blink album I can actually handle. Maybe some on RYM take themselves a little too seriously.
13.(1658) Boston: The Third Stage. Fair call. I'm a big Boston fan and the wait for more of the same back in 1986 didn't really seem worth it.
14.(1750) Ozzy Osbourne: The Ultimate Sin. This album is reviled by many metal fans but I reckon this album is huge. Probably a bit too commercial for it's intended audience which is why it has rated so poorly.
15.(1786) Robbie Williams: Singing When your winning. No comment, still don't mind Supreme and Let love be your energy.
16.(2154) The Darkness: Permission to land. Squeeze those bollocks Justin!
17.(2185) Black Sabbath: Born Again. No way. This album is a metal classic. Deep Purple vocals, Sabbath power. Get on.
18.(2342) Hole: Celebrity Skin. Yep, stay away from this one. No way is this better than Momentary Lapse...
19.(2447) The Rolling Stones: Black and Blue. The most underrated Stones album ever. A classic.
20. NONE

Got to 2500 and the list ends. So how many 'turkeys' are in your cage?

regards,

REB

1. (14) The Clash - Cut the crap (This is England is a great track - the rest pass. I have all their stuff so had to get this!)
2. (606) Sonic Youth - Made in the USA
3. (788) Iggy Pop - Blah Blah Blah
4. (896) South Park - Chef Aid (Contains a Joe Strummer track unavailable elsewhere cost me $5)
5. (921) Various - Burning London - A tribute to the Clash (Got it dirt cheap - Not great but there's been much worse "tribute" LPS)
6. (1042) Iggy Pop - Beat em up
7. (1148)The Pogues - Waiting for herb (No McGowan but not that bad)
8. (1243) Nick Cave - Nocturama (Probably his worse but worth getting for "15 feet of pure white snow")
9. (1338) The Ramones - Acid Eaters (Classic songs done by The Ramones no harm there but one for fans)
10.(1356) Iggy Pop - Avenue B
11.(1473) Sex Pistols - Great Rock and Roll Swindle (well it's hardly an album per say)
12.(1613) Sonic Youth - NYC Ghosts and flowers
13.(1624) Kaiser Chiefs - Employment (good fun album)
14.(1700) Died Pretty - Trace (DP's worse - but that makes that better than a lot of other stuff out there)
15.(1714) The Ramones - Adios Amigos (their last. What do you expect another "Rocket to Russia"???)
16.(1934) Iggy Pop - Instinct
17.(2300) The Ramones - Brain Drain (The Ramones actually use a keyboard on this!!! How dare they???)
18.(2376) The Ramones - Halfway to Sanity (Not that bad)
19.(2545) Joe Strummer - Earthquake Weather ( First solo effort. Don't mind it but don't play often to be honest)
20.(2630) Dead Kennedys - Bedtime for democracy (It's alright not every album can be "Fresh fruit")

I stopped at 20. Iggy Pop and Sonic Youth cop a bit. I think the guys doing the list thought all Iggy Pop LPs should be as good as "Lust for Life" and all Sonic Youth LPs should be as good as "Daydream Nation". Well hate to disappoint but it aint gonna happen fellas!!!!!

I have the highest (lowest) rated album of anyone so far!!!!! #14 "Cut the Crap".

I would have been stunned if it had been anyone else LOL.

Not happy about yet another internet site ragging on One Hot Minute! It's the one Chilli Peppers album that actually sounds different and they got hammered for it and went back to producing Blood Sugar Sex Magick knock offs, each inferior to the last.

I agree on RHCP's OHM REB (hmmmmm). I really like that album. And am bored by most things the Chillis have released since.
Was actually wearing a t-shirt I got free with OHM last night.
