I love the Funkoars too and I listen to a little bit of Drapht aswell.

My guess is that some of that stuff in the top 20 was pretty popular...

My point exactly Q ... Who the hell is buying this shit !!!!!!!

More to the point I have heaps of mates that used to be huge triple J fans that no longer listen or vote due to the type of music played.

Not saying these bands should have been top of the countdown but the likes of sound garden , smashing pumpkins ,
Placebo , grinspoon , band of horses , something for Kate etc etc . Where are they ? Music has changed too much for my liking or maybe I'm just getting too old

I hear you there, Freo.

I think I'm just out of touch with the youth of today. I have a 19 year old brother who listens to Triple J now, and it's far removed from the station I grew up with...

If they kept playing stuff from two decades ago I'd tune out. That's what my CD collection is for.

I want new tracks from new bands. Prefer being open to anything these days and then getting to see them live. Highlight of 2012 was seeing Rudimental in Melbourne before they'd really exploded on radio - super fun gig with the cruisiest crowd. Same for Django Django last month - excellent live band.

Came to the conclusion long ago that I'd rather like more music than I hate and attempt to see the good in most of it.

I get what you're saying, and I agree with it.

I'm a lot more open to different genres these days than I used to be. 5-10 years ago, I'd never have listened to bands and artists like Ladytron, Butterfingers, Monuments, M.I.A., Danko Jones and Lily Allen etc. I used to be into a little of Eminem's work too.

Its quite obvioius what my point is Q , im talking about the genre ..... There are some cracking tunes on the J's still but the youth of today clearly arent into it.

Violent soho - Tinderbox
Strangers - Persona non grata
Dead letter circus - wake up
kingswood - yea go die

the music taste of the youth of today makes me sick. The lads i work with all just went interstate to see swedish house mafia . I wouldnt go to that shit if you paid for my flights , tickets accomodation and P*SS ..... No wonder the Big Day Out whos brand i thought was indestructable a decade ago has died trying to accomodate both the rock scene and the shaved , spray tanned fluro coloured hot short wearing blokes of this era.

LONG LIVE SOUNDWAVE and real music !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haters gonna hate:
A guide to hating triple j

The simplest way to develop your hatred of triple j is to slowly move out of the station’s target demographic – some cultures refer to this process as “aging” – but to help you hate on triple j more effectively here’s FL’s foolproof guide to (irrationally) hating on triple j. And it’s just in time for Ausmusic Month and the hateful J Awards.

Except JJJ don't play Swedish House Mafia.

Kingswood & Violent Soho have been on high rotation all year.

Okay, I was surprised that there wasn't a lot of rock music in the 100, but obviously the voters have moved away from that derivative genre.

I've heard many young people raving about Swedish House Mafia. I don't even know what that is.

Daft Punk haven't released anything decent in ages. Although I was listening to Alive last night. A cracking set.
