The association between the groups started prior to the APPS, we have no need to reduce points because we barely use any, if any at all, and the points reduced by being aligned with Merc = 0.

I'll take the bait, albeit slightly stale. Yeah, what Jetters said.
fwiw; I reckon APPS beats salary cap hands down, but does have some hairs on it and can be refined to reduce admin overhead etc.

Interesting stats from the league this week. Sort of dispels the hysteria being promoted

We have undertaken a sweep of APPS usage from the first 4 weeks of the season with some very interesting results. Contrary to those who would have our clubs believe we as a collective group are hampered by the APPS, The greater majority of clubs within the SAAFL are very well placed and below is a summary of usage to date. As you can see, only two competitions use a little over half of allocated points with the rest being well below.
Furthermore, consider this: If every player currently registered in the SAAFL who is points rated played A grade football, we would use 616 points per week out of 990. (62% of SACFL allocation)
That’s the worst case scenario but see below with respect to actual usage.
Div. 1 – 80 points (53%)
Div. 2 – 80 points (53%)
Div. 3 – 43 points (28%)
Div. 4 – 30 points (20%)
Div. 5 – 46 points (30%)
Div. 6 – 39 points (28%)
Div. 7 – 10 points (7%)
Avg. per week as at Rd 4 – 328/990 (33%)
We are under no illusion the APPS still needs to be updated to 2013’s standards and we are currently offering input to that process however there is a disproportionate amount of time spent analysing the APPS when considering how it effects the 66 SAAFL clubs as a whole.
5: is the number of clubs to have used 15 points on any given Saturday in the first 4 weeks (2 in Division 1, 2 in Division 2 & 1 in Division 3)
6: is the number of clubs who have used more than 12 on any given Saturday
24: is the number of clubs who have used less than 3 points on any given Saturday (2 in Division 1 & 2 in Division 2)
4: is the number of clubs who have zero points within their club

33%, if this is right, why are the ammos even in the points system in the first place. You would've thought all safl clubs were running at 80%+ the way some were carrying on.

I like the rule about people returning to there junior club being 0 pointers if have played over 25 games, the part that stumps me is those 25 games have to be after you have turned 13, why is that?
do the ex college kids have to finish year 12 to be zero points for there respective clubs?

Because if the ammos weren't in the points system all our players would be worth 0 points to other leagues

We have one bloke who played 60 odd junior games for us but is still worth 3 points because only 14 or thereabouts were played after the year he turned 13. And this is despite the rules not explicitly stating that the games must be played after the year in which they turn 13.
It doesn't seem to take into consideration that the metro age groups used to be U11s, U13s, etc rather than U12s, U14s as they are now. Maybe it suits the country league age groups?

Yep very similar position we are in with 1 lad and it wasnt due to him going to another club in the league his parents moved interstate for work. i really think this needs to be re visited, dont know how many clubs have been in this position but makes it even more difficult with this age rule as our club went a period of time were we didnt have under 16s side

Likewise, our bloke gave up footy for basketball and rowing, and as you know, we haven't had 16s for years but we did have 15s back then

We would have had half a dozen in this category over the last couple of years, currently Jarryd Dixey who played 2 seasons of U/11's then U/16's. Only the U/16's games counted and of course he played 24.

Christian Nurton is another one played U/9's to U/13's then came back played 4 season of seniors but due injuries played only 23 games. So despite playing over 100 games for the club in juniors and seniors was worth 3 points.

Also on the topic of old scholars, I played 6 seasons of juniors for Ethelton (now Portland) but all under the age of 13 so don't count but because I went to a particular school i am worth 0 points at some monstrosity called Saint Michaels Old Scholars Hindmarsh West Lakes Football Club.

That was the biggest con of all time and the league fell for it hook line & sinker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your players were on a SAAFL contract they were going no where and as we know most country clubs raided our b grade sides which were zero pts.

WE WERE CONNED!!!! NO IFS NO BUTTS.

We should have told them to stick it up their whohaa. The Ammos didn't have a problem it was the country leagues that needed it. Who did the most pushing for it the country leagues as the comps were being ruined by the millionaire clubs in their comps.

We had what they didn't relegation. 99.9% of clubs in the SAAFL are not stupid to blow all their dough and get relegated. If you blow all your dough in the country you just sit at the bottom of the table for a few years until the crop is good and off you go again.

It was a smoke and mirrors job by Glenn Rosser and his cronies and they got what they wanted.

Now it has become his biggest headache and he has admitted it.

Country leagues cheating the system, he wishes he had never brought it in!!!!!!!!

I have been to country areas for the last 9 weeks as part of my job and if you think most country leagues are using the point system I am sorry but you are a fool. I generally speak to people involved in footy there and they tell me they tell the SANFL that they will use it but then just ignore it.

Empty threat. If they did that they may as well not have a points system.
