Many players used to die before the advent of padding in American Football. Not quite the same issue in Aussie Rules.

I'll admit I have no idea about it.

All I see is blokes wearing shoulder pads and that is enough for me.

I don't think many would play 2 games in a row without the helmets and padding. Some of those guys would make the Australian 100m sprint team, and weigh 240lbs.

It's rife in HW, LHW & MW divisions. No need for it in lower weight classes, although it occurs.

Been well documented that it's standard practice in NFL though.

Since Roger Goodell has been commisioner there has been a crackdown on drugs, and players are being rubbed out for even minor infractions. Houston Texans MLB Brian Cushing was suspended and had the Rookie of the Year award taken off him a couple of years ago for using PEDs.

Ray Lewis has been accused of using some Deer Antler crap to overcome injury, but after an investigation, he was cleared.

They take it very seriously now. Goodell is a tyrant.

True. There has been a push for the UFC to adopt a similar program now being used by the NFL.

Any food show except for Hells Kitchen gives me the shits.
Even worse when they babble on about it on Nova in the mornings as theyre obviously paid by the tv network.
Think I preferred the Big Brother days!

I'm a fan of rick Stein and his cooking shows, and Ramsey, river cottage. The rest, especially the competition shows are crap.

Yup Helmets are important and so are the padding I seen many a running back and wide receiver nearly killed with some of those hits. The padding they wear in hockey is smaller and more designed to protect the body from when the puck hits you.
