Inattentive parents, and other people too scared to help someone. At the Compass Cup on Saturday I saw a young boy, about 4ish, crying and in a panic because he'd lost his Dad in the crowd. Heaps of people were closer to him than I was and they all just stared at him and looked around waiting for someone else to help. I went over and talked to him, calmed him down and found out what his Dad was wearing and then took him to find him. Then when we did find the guy, he hadnt even realised his son had been gone. He was too busy checking out the ute show.

The people not helping really annoyed me because who knows what couldve happened to that boy. All it wouldve taken was someone dodgier than me to go talk to him and he would be gone without a trace.

Good onya mate, my 7 & 9 year olds took the wrong turn getting off of the dodge'em cars at the show and we're out of sight for me and I knew they'd have a fair journey to get back around. I was by myself and didn't know which way to go and just used my instincts as I was just about to have an anxiety attack.
My kids are all I have at the moment and the thought of something ever happening to them is sickening, I can't be there all the time for them but I can make sure they are 100% safe when they're in my control.

I was in the adelaide central railway one day, and this old guy about 90 fell over on the escalator. No one helped even when he was tumbling and be dragged back up. I think I ran past about 20 motionless people to pick him up. He was very grateful because he was pretty cut up. I came back down and gave some of the gawkers a huge spray.

People don't like getting involved in anything nowadays. Everyone pretends they can't see what's going on, I can't help myself but to get involved in bad situations, I'd never forgive myself if something bad happened to someone that I could've helped out.
It's cost me a few punches in the head but so be it, lucky it was the head.

Asked the father whether he could take a photo and the father wanted to beat him up and called him a pedo. Had no intentions of anything just thought the kids looked great.

Understand where your coming from. He is a member of BMC and people upload photos from cycling events all over the world to the website. He is in his seventies and that is why he asked first. Older people grew up in a different time when things like that were common and no one thought about these sort of things. My family, including my two young boys (aged 9 and 11) were with him at the time and I thought I was going to have to step in.

It's sad it's got that way but in the same breathe its scary to think of what really went on back then and the things everyone missed.
