SA has 143 runs from 55 overs chasing 319.
Do you want to play for 2 points or 6 points?

Botha out at 4:38. I was close. We have our best, in form batsman at the other end. Let him do the scoring. He has even hitting it out of the middle of the bat. Botha on the other hand, miss hit most of his shots, got out cheaply and quickly, and now we are in trouble. Stupid batting for himself and not wanting to work in a partnership.

ATM he is 3rd highest score.
Got out on a defensive shot.
Sorry mate but at that stage of the game you play for out-rights you don't play shield finals meandering to 1st innings victory.
It's a bit different to indoor cricket.

If you've seen the shield table you'd know we aren't in a position to give away two points to the teams above us.

You have to secure the 2 points first before worrying about outrights

that's exactly right, with NSW doing the job against WA at the minute, we are 3 points behind the team in 4th. We aren't far from the point where even outrights won't help if teams above us keep racking up points themselves, even first innings points against us are killers

maybe we should be thinking about rebuilding first. the outcomes, at this juncture in time, shouldn't be the priority.

So 2 points are better than 6?

I hope the 4 before you were more realistic Jim. 2 wickets in hand requiring 80. Every indicator would tell you the redbacks are a remote chance of first innings points. Have you been on the red bulls or something else because you are not normally positive when it comes to sa?

Positive when they deserve it.
Without a recognised batter out there I give us no chance of getting first innings points. Reckon the Vics will be batting within 30 minutes tomorrow morning.
The positive is there is plenty of time left for a result and hopefully the bowlers can skittle them cheaply or they set us a good run chase on day 4

Because with a bit of sensible batting today we could have claimed first innings points and then pressed on for the outright. A couple of poor shots today will probably cost us the 2 points and put the Vics in the box seat.
Hughes just needed someone to hang around with him.
Sometimes you just have to bank the 2 points first

The redbacks are 8 points behind the
2 leading teams. 2 points ain't going to cut it. For Sa they can be 2 points behind with an outright.

FFS, throw the bat and make some runs or get out so we can get into these pricks. What's the point of 10 & 11 blocking out
