FFS Head out last ball before tea to an LBW that may have struck him outside the line. Why drive at the last ball before tea instead of a dead bat

Stinker decision! Doesnt matter about the shot, why defend at a ball you can drive. He tries to block a ball he should drive and nicks up its exactly the same. (hit the ball  )

Thats cricket

Botha won't last until 4:30. Batting like it's a Ryobi Cup game.

SA has 143 runs from 55 overs chasing 319.
Do you want to play for 2 points or 6 points?
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Botha out at 4:38. I was close. We have our best, in form batsman at the other end. Let him do the scoring. He has even hitting it out of the middle of the bat. Botha on the other hand, miss hit most of his shots, got out cheaply and quickly, and now we are in trouble. Stupid batting for himself and not wanting to work in a partnership.

And this is the guy people want in the test side

Steve smith is half way too the ton that takes him to India

Yep makes you laugh when people go on about how this bloke keeps getting selected for Aussie sides.

There is a reason, his first class career record is equal if not better than most batsmen getting around in shield cricket.

These same people bagging him are also generally massive fans of a bloke who is averaging 36 and has hit 8 tons in 129 shield innings, playing most of his games on a batsmen friendly pitch.

Loyalty does strange things.

Steve Smith does not perform at the highest level. Tried and failed, a few times now

So was Hayden, Ponting, Langer, Martyn etc etc, Phillip Hughes. Many a batsmen have been dropped multiple times to go on and become decent test cricketers.

While the bloke keeps hitting runs at shield level he continues to deserve more chances.

Geez lets pick a bloke who is having a career best year yet is only averaging 39 and hit one ton in 12 innings this year!!! thats makes sense.

In all seriousness WCP who do you rate as a better four day batsmen, Smith or Ferguson.

Where have I called for Ferg to be in the Test side? The batsmen you mention above had technique to start with. Smith is a wood chopper. If you can't see he is all over the place with his strokes you must have just started following the game.

Even putting him in the same post as those blokes is highly insulting.

Where did i say he is going to be anywhere near as good as those blokes, all i pointed out was the fact that if Smith did make it as a test cricketer he wouldnt be the first one to have been dropped multiple times before 'making' it.

Once again if Smith made it would he be the first test batsmen to make it with an unorthodox technique, Amla, Gilchrist, Lara, Chanderpaul, Hughes all say hello!!!

Give me a batsmen who hits runs with a shite technique over a batsmen with a perfect technique who struggles at shield level any day of the week.

Im interested to hear who you rate as a better four day batsmen out of Smith and Ferguson?

Carn boys, scrap in as many runs as possible. If phil can stick around we might make another 100-150
