I agree. Also, why do championship winners from the NFL and NBA refer to themselves as 'World Champions'? I know they're obviously the best club teams in the world, but shouldn't 'World Champions' refer to the winner of the World Championships, much like the Gold medallists at the Olympics are called the Olympic champions?

Exactly. My beef is with CLUBS claiming to be world champions. I do see Dedja's point though.

People ride around in lycra all year round. Nobody whinges ( thats all it is, a whinge ) any other time of the year.
Perhaps there are more out and about now because of the nicer weather?
Perhaps there are some more on the roads with interstate visitors that are here for the TDU, the BUPA challenge ( I know of 4 people from Brisbane )

You are right about the BUPA and TDU thing but I think there are thousands more than your Brisbane friends here for these events. Come up to the Hills and see pelotons three deep going up hill and down dale all morning and night, who don’t give a dam about other road users. The single cyclist like Dutchy is not a problem, although I still don’t get the lycra thing?

I ride my bike sometimes. I wear shorts and a tshirt.
Dont have to dress like a wanker to lose weight.
In fact wouldnt lycra create less reistence causing me not to work as hard and hence not as lose as much weight?
Its always the lycra clad tossers that ride like they own the road while normally dressed people tend to ride more logically. Dress like wankers, act like wankers. Im sure there's some exceptions out there though.
I usually go for a 90 minute walk every 2nd day and went from seeing ZERO of these wankers during that 90 mins to seeing almost a dozen a day when this god awful event is on.

40k interstate/overseas visitors here this week, good for Adelaide. With many of them staying in the city and with the village and expo on you are always going to see more in the CBD this time of year, many of the local riders prefer to keep as far away from the city as they can.

I rode my bike for the first few months without lycra and thought the same that I wouldnt go down the lycra path. However it is much more comfortable and the resistance thing is more for going into strong headwinds, it makes a huge difference.

I ride 90% by myself and dont really enjoy group rides as it does clog up the roads and chatting while riding can take your focus off the cars around you which makes it very dangerous.

Like all forms of transport there are a % of dickheads.

I have a 45km circuit I ride, it's from Prospect to the city then the linear trail out to Henley Beach, I think I'm the only male I see on the journey that wears footy shorts, I just can't bring myself to buy some lycra, even funnier when they get the matching top.
Each to their own though.

Well there we have it folks. Millions of cyclists around the world are simply doing the wrong thing wearing lycra.

Now, can we get back to discussing duromine?
