Just had an email from people who would know and saying that they would bet me a carton of Crownies that Prince Alfred OC will easily make the 5
They actually thought they would make the top 3. Don't want to make the bet as I think that I would certainly lose, as they are looking real good apparently.

Recruiting heavily is the word and looking extremely good.

As they were injury ravaged the last few seasons, and still looked good, it would not take much for PAOC to be very good.

Walkerville and PAOC was the big tip for the Grand Final. Anyone care to elaborate further on the big name recruits that PAOC have been sneakily adding and not telling anyone about.

Geez. Gunna be hard to make the 5 for all the bottom clubs with Walkerville and PAOC looking great + Kilburn, Gepps Cross, Port District and SHOC all really strong.

+ Flinders Park picking up plenty and are the dark horse. That makes 7 clubs, who are all very strong leading into the season.

Kilburn will be very competitive don't anyone doubt that. Out of the super 5 all are talking up its obvious that Gepps Cross will be the disappointment. Can't see them firing a shot to be honest. I could be wrong though, guess the proof will be in the pudding...

A good name for them. The Super 6. Well done Bustahyme, A good name for them you have chosen. (And a good name for yourself as well. Very funny)

Think the Super 6 now will be Walkerville, PAOC, Kilburn, Gepps Cross, Port District and Gepps Cross.

Think you are right with Kilburn but wrong with Gepps Cross. Too many good players at Duncan Fraser to not make the 5.

I agree there is some quality down at the rams but I'm not convinced they are all on the same page. Agree with the super 6 though, has a good ring to it too!! Should be a very competitive comp. good viewing I'd reckon.

First time poster so take it easy on me here guys. From what i am reading i gather the following:
Flinders park: Good recruiting will be a tough side to beat.
Gepps X: Doubts on numbers and talent but should still be able to make a few sides hurt after the long straight drive up GJ rd
Prince Alf: Very quiet on recruiting front (wont let anyone know) but have been out and about trying to get big names on board. Have been a good side over the years and should be more of an opponent than most think
Modbury: Quietly going about their business and not getting much of a mention. Will be a strong club this year
Kilburn: Could the tyres get pumped up any more? Having league players join 2 years ago might have helped back then and last year. Bit of a difference into Div 2 after being in the lower standard of footy. Not doubting ther ability just think if they can stay in the division and not drop after the money has been spent, thats the first achievment.
Smosh: after taking a few key players form other Div 2 clubs they will be a strong and fast side like they have been over the past few years. I cant see them not being in the "Super 6"
Walkerville: With the talk of non payment or payment to players and how they will fit these highly educated individuals in their side each week, most certainly a jump to Div 1 next year. Only joking. The cats will be the team to beat this year. Far too much depth to not be in Div 1 nesxt year. The job will be managing the points and ego's of players (as much as they dont want a player to be there for money or noteriety) having to play in the 2's.
SHOC: HArdly a mention on here. Have always been a strong outfit. Might surprise some but i doubt it.
Portland: Seems as though they will continue with the stocks they had last year. Not sure how that will work
Districts: Alot of talk of lost players etc. It's always a funny time of year in pre season. We will still be as strong as we were last year. Those that doubt will be highly dissapointed. Should be a good year.

That's a pretty fair wrap up I think. Pretty close to what I would say. Not that I am an expert on div 2, as half of what I know has come from this forum :)
I especially agree with your Kilburn prediction. I think they would be surprised at the jump from div 3 to div 2. Especially with a few of the other clubs recruiting as good as they have.
For them I am predicting a hard start, then a big losing streak, or a long hard start with some wins coming late. But having said that, it would still be classed as a successful season for them, and give them the platform to be a genuine premiership threat in 2014.
Gepps will be the ones that surprise. No real talk about them, yet they have resigned pretty much all from last year, with time still to recruit.
I predict a Walkerville Gepps grand final.

It is funny reading all the write up's about Walkies trouble with the point system. I am pretty sure most higher division teams if recruiting will have trouble with it. Alot of these opinions are only based on surface information. If you look into the club a little more you will find that they are and have been building for many years to make themselves a strog and successful club in div2 and hopefully div 1.
The club already has huge depth which can be seen with the reserves side playing in the last 3 div2r grand finals and also their c grade playing in c1 and making a GF in 2012.
In 2012 the A grade lost 9 games within 2 kicks, so weren't too far off the mark. They missed a few key position players to help out the likes of Fischer in the forward line and also needed a couple of hard in and under midfielders. Seems that they have picked them up now. Now on the points system we need to remember that all of last years players will now be worth 1 point less giving the A grade a fresh 15 points to play with. That is 5 x 3 point players. Any other recruits will need to perform extra well to make the A grade team making competition for spots tough. This will only heelp the club, not hinder it.

But lets remember we are only in January so unlike Port Districts last year, I am sure everyone at Walkerville understand tthere is a long way to go before being handed any silverwear!

I really dont see what the fuss is about. Being worth points doesn't give you a badge that says "I'm a D2 level player!"
There are plenty of players playing A Grade country football or even D3 that would never make a D2 side, yet they are worth points because they played A Grade in a different club. Then you have the complete reverse like Johnny Boxer who was an absolute success after jumping 2-3 grades.

Plus, we must be the only club that has injuries in our A Grade? Just because the limit is 15 points per team on any one day, doesn't restrict you to having 15 points in the club. A strong B Grade with people consistently pushing for an A Grade position is a pretty good base to having a successful year.

As for the Port District comment FF, there was only one person pumping them up this time last year and he's full of it.

if 7 players had 2 points last year they are worth 1 point this year.....thats 7 points taken up for the new season the depth will go well down into the B grade and some players who went on holidays and doing the hard yards early could find themselves sitting last in the running :)

C'mon FF, get your facts straight. You're forgetting the two Div 3R GFs they played in before playing in the last three Div 2R GFs ;)
