Golf now gives me the sh1ts.

The people at the Sunday Mail who collate and type set all those cricket, golf and tiddlywinks results are on seriously tight deadlines and if the information is not phoned/faxed/emailed in to the right desk at the right time then omissions can and will occur. Also, mistakes will happen unintentionally as pressure mounts on those doing the job. I can tell you first hand that the majority of omissions simply occur because the information arrives too late or goes to the wrong desk. You cannot blame the Sunday Mail for that.

I know the footy scores have to be in by 5.30pm and they're taken from Sporting Pulse, therefore if any results are wrong, it's because they've been entered incorrectly or not at all by the people supplying the information.

SP I'm am one of those people that ring through cricket results.
You can't tell me that ATCA, District level below A grade which is 7 levels, Churches League and Suburburn comp all rang through their results after the deadline.
That's a pretty fair stretch.

I don't know what went on in the sports dept yesterday arvo and last night but you just can't blame these people for everything that goes astray. No one there gets a heap of results on their desk and then decides, what the hell, I'll just stick these in the bin or put them through to the used car section for a laugh.
Your concerns are obviously legitimate so you should take them to the deputy sports editor direct. I can pm you the contact details if you want.

Lets get one thing straight SP we are by no means having a crack at you unfortunately you seem to know a bit about it.
If this deputy sports editor has been in the job for a while then he has made a lot of blues in the past.
Some weeks it's all over the shop and barely believable.
Do they proof read?

I'm unsure to what extent they proof read results. It's 100% on editorial submissions (articles and written reports) but as for match stats and scores I really don't know. Staff cutbacks and rationalisation has put more pressure on the whole team there and I'll say it again, the folks who do this job are good honest people who do their best under acute pressure.

Very true. Getting results in can be frustrating at times.
All media relies on the people sending the results to get them in correct and on time.

Bloody weather ruining the annual backyard cricket comp at the Swit CG.
Guess we'll just have to drink a few beers now.

Our garage is on the back of our house and backs onto a laneway, that all the garages for the houses on our street and the street behind us back onto. Theres brand new townhouses behind us, definately too small for 5 person families, but people have decided to live there anyway.

One feral arse family have dumped bags full of dirty nappies, bags of fish heads and crap like that next to our house and it blows all over the laneway. We didnt know who it was until we saw boxes for Huffy tricycles filled with shit. Turns out one of the families kids got Huffy trikes for Xmas and are alway riding them around the laneway.

So now the stupid **** are going to get reported to the council. The thing that surprises me is they dumped shit in their own street. They open their rollerdoor and see all the shit they've dumped blowing across the street and couldnt give a ****.

I HATE that too.

I shouldn't have been so pessimistic. We played, in the rain. Used sawdust for the batting/bowling marks. The taped up ball was getting some really zing in those conditions.
