Best innings Bailey will ever play for Australia. He's a handy cricketer at domestic level and against a very mediocre international side he had his best day out but an international standard player he is not. Sugar coat things all you like but Australia's second/third string side dominating the Lankans says more about the poor state of their game than it does about the Aussies. Serve that side up against a decent opponent and we'd get flogged.

Can we stop picking blokes in 50 over cricket and more importantly Test cricket based on making runs in T20 crap yet? How'd Finch go? Have heard Shaun Marsh's name mentioned for the Test tour of India as well. What has he done seriously? Slog a few in a meaningless comp where valuing your wicket is actually a disadvantage? He's a spud, plain and simple. Mentally weak and talent wise is only as good as his first class record indicates.

Never been a fan of Haddin with the gloves but after having watched Wade all summer, Haddin is looking very clean and well organised behind the stumps. Actually looks like he belongs unlike Wade who is a bit of deer in the headlights.

Finch deserves a spot in the ODI's, has good form in the Ryobi. Averaging about 4 in the real stuff this season so not on the radar fir a test spot.
Shaun Marsh not up to it ATM, maybe he can go dominate at shield level like Hughes has and earn a recall, definately doesnt deserve to be mentioned for a test spot yet

I think you will find Finchs performances in the ryobi cup this year more than warrant his selection in the ODI side

Glen Maxwell played against Pakistan in his previous ODI series

Batting
38[38] strike rate 100.0
28][27] strike rate 103.7
56 not out [38] strike rate 147.7

in all 3 games his batting was a big reason why Australia won all 3 games
An exceptional talent with the bat

Bowling
that series 0/97 [15.4]
perhaps needs to bowl against under 10s

This is Maxwells 5th ODI game, and he has yet to take a wicket

Apparantly Healy slammed Wade's keeping today. Didnt listen to the interview but apparantly teed off on him

They should play Lyon in the ODI's, gives him more practice bowling to international batsmen. Is light years better than Hackswell.

Would disregard all results against the Paki's
They probably had money on him making a 50

Fair enough about Finch deserving a spot based on form in the Domestic One Day comp. He has done well.

Comments regarding Marsh dominating the Shield and getting his spot back are what he needs to do but unfortunately he never did anything in first class cricket to earn a spot in the first place. It seems he got given a gig based on slogging a few in teeball and being the son of a massively over rated former Test cricketer ad Australian coach. Callum Ferguson has a slightly better first class record than Shaun Marsh but if you suggest he should get a shot then you'd be laughed at.

There are hundreds of bowlers all around the country who bowl rubbish off breaks like Maxwell. He's a good fielder and he can occasionally hit a ball a long way but so what? A nothing cricketer really. Dime a dozen type. Kids take note, slog, take up bowling off breaks/darts and you are a chance to represent your country. Forget learning how to be a consistently good player, that seems to count for little.

The X factor being? Averaging 35 in 76 first class games with only 7 hundreds? Will strike the fear of god into the Poms if we select him on those figures

Sad thing for him is that he will always be Swampy's son and given how ordinary he was that's a sad thing. He might be upgraded to Mitch's brother but that's yet to be seen. Dud!

S.Marsh wont go to England or India no matter how many times Shane Warne Tweets how good he is. Made SFA first class runs and is a dead set nicker.
