Never held a garage against anyone. One of the characters of cricket commentary is gone.

Cricket and c9 has lost a special person with a great love for the game of cricket.

Love him or hate him, the com box won't be the same.

Vale Tony.

Just discussing Tony Greig with a couple of mates and why or what he is remembered for? They both said he is remembered mainly because of his long commentary career on C9 so he was always around so to speak and the fact he was different. I agree re his commentary but I don't think he was different - he was just himself and said it how it was and didn't hide for confrontation.

Love him or loathe him he stood by Packer and World Series and was a big part of why cricket changed certainly for the better re players wages after WSC.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

Interesting on the show that Thommo has been ringing him almost every day since he was diagnosed with cancer. Goes to show that friends can be made from adversity

Was at North Sydney I think (probably wrong) and it was very funny at the time.

Correct. NSW v SA in a Mercantile Mutual Cup match. Absolute classic.

Huge loss to cricket all around the world.
With all his contributions off the field, it seems his career is often overlooked, especailly with a batting average of 40 in the 70's.

That game was a cracker too. SA beat a full strength NSW on the last ball in pretty controversial circumstances....

He was someone you used to love to hate when listening to as he appeared to hate Australia, but in reality was an excellent commentator who will be sadly missed and with Bill Lawry retiring Cricket will never be the same on 9 again, I managed to see live his last appearance during the first test which was emotional.

Not trying to be being disrespectful as Greig's passing is very sad and unfortunate, but wondering what would be the reaction when Chappelli goes, although not likely soon as he looks very fit for a 69 year old?
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Chappelli would be around for a few years you'd think.

I have wondered in the past about how much longer Richie will be with us and what the reaction will be when he leaves us. He's an institution really.
