BUT, in my opinion, they should ALL be played at Adelaide Oval, we're spending all this bloody money, let's utilize the place!

Why would any of the Ovals be too small suddenly to play finals on, but fine to play at for the majority of the season?

I agree that when Adelaide Oval is ready for use, that's where they should be played .. Will be interesting to see how well this years finals series is attended though, and what the atmosphere is like etc.

we only play on little dung heaps because we have to. ;)

At what stage will Adelaide Oval be at by finals time next year ? Could it accomodate 10,000 to 30,000 ? If so play them all there IMHO.

It needs to be finished by November for The Ashes...so, it should be completed.

The southern stand should be completed, the eastern wont be quite finished. In saying that, having to have the southern stand completed by November there is no guarantee it will be open to the public in September. The current configuration of the ground would easily be big enough for the first three weeks of the finals anyway.

It will be great to have finals back at Adelaide Oval whenever that is. There were some fantastic crowds and atmospheres there in about 2007, 2008. However it would be odd I think if even the Grand Final isn't at the league headquarters.

Makes sense to give suburban finals a go as I would imagine the League runs at a loss with opening Footy Park for 9000 spectators.

My fear though, is that the attendances will only be marginally above the average for a minor round game. For example West v Central at Richmond would see no more than 3000 IMO which for me would detract from the occasion. (And not only because haven't won there for a while :( )
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Think you would be surprised. Most people I know would rather watch finals at a suburban ground, than AO or FP.

Great idea I reckon.

The atmosphere and crowds have been poor at Aami in recent years. Also, never liked finals starting just after noon.

The clubs hosting finals can do lots of promoting of the game in their local community during the week.

If the grounds have lights, night finals could be an option too.

Makes good sense to trial it this year.

Happy to be proven wrong - I agree that a 6000-7000 type crowd would create a great atmosphere.

Key Points in The Advertiser.
1) The SANFL will audit all grounds to make sure facilities like toilets, canteens and media boxes reach a minimum.
2) Details are still being finalised with clubs on revenue split from games.
3) Still talking with ABC to what days the games will be played.
4) Clubs will be offered the chance to opportunity to host games in first 3 weeks.

So the SANFL could rule out some grounds.
Looks like Home teams will have to share the profits.
You would think ABC will either just broadcast one game or it will be One Saturday and One Sunday afternoons.
Surely no Club would turn down the chance to host a home final, even if it's a neutral game some clubs already host Ressies and underage so I'm sure no one will say no.

Will Adelaide Oval be available for the SANFL Grand Final if it stays in October. What is the change over date with cricket?

I would dearly love Norwood to be the last club to win a flag at Football Park and the first to win at Adelaide....... well the new Adelaide.

Was Sturt the first to win a flag @ FP ? Beat the Bays I think ? Then Norwood beat the Bays there in 1975 starting Glenelg's poor tradition in GFs.

Some might have no choice with long term contracts stipulating the period of use per year due to other sports/activities occurring there.

Why play them at the worst ground in Adelaide?

Because the Hindmarsh lawn bowls club next to it has the cheapest piss in Adelaide.

And the soil is soft for burrowing under the fence.
If finals are played at Norwood you get to drink Coopers Wedgie !
