What, and miss out on a guy like Angus Graham or Kane Mitchell?

will they be here for three years?

will they be souths players?

will they play finals (my dream) if we make it?

will they be training with the club?

will they stay at the club for the now mandated period after a home game to engage with the supporters?

I want us to have our own players. Some of our "mini draft" players have been great for us.Some have been terrible.

I get what you are saying, but that is the way it has been since the Mini Draft's inception. I think the best case scenario, as has been the story at Central in recent seasons, is those players that come aligned from the AFL clubs are a bonus, while you have them.

If your club does not have somewhat of a reliance on them to be competitive, much like we saw with Sturt in some ways, then they are a handy bonus when playing. Until the system changes, I would be happy with an AFL listed player at the club.

I don't disagree with you Phil.

But, I believe for us to be successful we have to have a greater emphasis on club success than a vehicle for individual player advancement.

That said, we will go top next year.

I don't think Central would have taken him if he fell back to 6, their need for a ruckman was too strong...

Kane Mitchell..... what a great pick by the eagles.

They get a Sandover Medalist and established player for free.

Maybe it's just the long hair but he seemed to stand out in the State game. Hope the Eagles get to play him a bit, but obviously it's pretty easy to make the Power's 22.

Eagles look to have done well. Obviously Mitchell should slot straight in to the midfield at this level if available and Heath could be handy off the half back line after losing McKenzie. Both mature age and should impact our league team when available.

Stoked to get Mitchell, especially seeing as he is a rookie with Port.

Doesn't mean much. Port only have 39 on their list. So they can upgrade a player as early as round 1 without a LTI
