Sad News

Postby SDK » Wed Dec 12, 2012 11:16 am

I know a lot of you people on the forum were friends with Jas.

It is with great sadness that I post this.
Our beloved JAS, Jackie Schwier, has passed away.
She was found dead in her apartment in Scotland on 11/12/2012 from what appears to be complications from an ongoing illness.

I never met Jas and if anything she probably hated my on-line persona but it is never nice to read this news about someone who was so passionate about are great league.

The SANFL has lost a loyal follower

:(
gee how sad to hear that JAS has passed away. The story of her becoming a passonite Norwood supporter really is amazing to think that she lived in scotland, had no ties to australia, no knowledge of the game before becoming a supporter.
JAS followed a footy side from half way round the world that some footy followers in australia may not know about.
Seeing her first live game only a year or two ago . I would like to know how she came about following Norwood & a bit of her history
I think it would be quite interesting to here her story.

Well OK, many years ago I met Jackie online playing a game called Guild Wars and we became good friends and chatted quite a bit. Slowly she took an interest in the Norwood Football Club along with her other passion rugby union following Ireland. Jackie retired young from the Royal Air Force around mmmm 10 years ago ???
No one could have dreamed how passionate a Norwood supporter Jackie would become and dedicate hours of her time to the Redlegs Forum and this forum as well. The rest of the story you all know.
A very fine lady loved and admired by many who will be greatly missed.
