This is where the one club situation is pretty handy for the Magpies .. Will be good to watch him in action on a regular basis, provided everything goes ok with his court case

Mmmm that's a good pick up for the maggies. Still won't help them. They'll still spend another season down towards the cellar.

Will the Power still offer him a job if he goes to a club that isn't the Magpies? I doubt it. This is the reason people were so opposed to the one club idea. Luckily though, Port are so weak they can have these little advantages. They need them.

While it will not select Jurrah at tomorrow’s pre-season or rookie drafts, Port Adelaide has committed to ongoing support effective immediately:

• Port Adelaide plans to recruit Jurrah to play in its SANFL team during 2013
• Port Adelaide, the AFL and the AFL Players’ Association will work together to provide additional support to assist Jurrah as he confronts off-field issues, including his court case in the Northern Territory
• Jurrah will be given the opportunity to work with Power Community Ltd, the community development arm of the Port Adelaide Football Club
• Port Adelaide will provide all possible assistance to help Jurrah’s rehabilitation from injury
• Port Adelaide is committed to again assessing Jurrah’s suitability for selection ahead of the 2014 AFL season

“We believe these measures will enable Liam to have the best possible opportunity to find his way back into the AFL system in great physical condition, with proven form at SANFL level and with those non-football matters fully dealt with,” Rohde said.

This seems to be a genteel way of massaging salary caps to me...couldnt they then commit to assist any player they wish to keep an eye eg jarad cachia?

Watch the One Port concept go from an evil plot to kill off the Magpies to an evil plot to ensure the Magpies get an unfair advantage in the space of one newspaper article.

In all seriousness though, do u honestly think the magpies won't use being aligned with the Power as a recruiting tool.

Have heard Henry Slattery will be working for the Power and playing for the Magpies next season as well

I doubt any other SANFl club would touch him so I can't see any advantage ...

What part of the PAFC planning on recruiting him to its SANFL side didn't you understand?

And looking very much forward to Slattery donning the famous Black and White while working for our club.

And I don't recall us being so "weak" last time we played your mob!

This does not seem to fit the 2010 statement by a Director of the Port Adelaide Magpies, John Firthon 891 Breakfast that the approving vote from SANFL Directors for One Team was welcome news.

Mr Firth reinforced that the rejoining of the teams would not affect the on field operations of the clubs, with only administration and off field management merging. "It's commercial and administrative rather than football."

Please enlighten us on how this doesn't fit? The PAFC want to offer Jurrah a support network. How does that happen if he is at another club?

So you're writing the Magpies aren't allowed to import or recruit players?

The released statement today uses the name Port Adelaide continually and does discuss football matter at AFL & SANFL level under the one team Port Adelaide.

As per the quote and as per the Power website joining of the teams would not affect the on field operations of the clubs, with only administration and off field management merging. "It's commercial and administrative rather than football."
http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/n ... fault.aspx

This is not a commercial matter nor is it administration matter - it is the Power recruiting a player for the Port Magpies which is a football matter and against the agreement with the SANFL and other clubs.

Any of the assistance for a support network provided by the Power can be provided by them to any SANFL club surely?

My apologies, I did not answer your original question "So you're writing the Magpies aren't allowed to import or recruit players?

I didn't say or infer this however since you raise the question the yes the Port Magpies can import or recruit players however the link to the Power shall be no different than for any other SANFL club and should not be used to assist recruiting.
