Citibank didn't send me out a new master card when my other one expired, I ring them up to work something out and they ask a series of questions about who I am.
We get to the secret question "What is your mother's maiden name?" I keep getting it wrong apparently.
I've done all I can over the phone to get around it and tell them that they have it wrong but they wont budge.
I've said "I've only had 1 mum and she's only had 1 maiden name"
Now I'm just ringing them for entertainment, the first two occasions I went off my tree and used just about every profanity I could think of letting them know how inept they are, the last few times has been because of requests from my work colleagues.
The rest of the office stops when they hear me announce that I'm ringing Citibank, they told me I have to go in to a branch with my I.D, the closest one is in Melbourne. GRRRRRRR.

Hopefully, I told the bank that I got it through initially what's happened but they aren't aligned to citibank anymore, they've rang me 3 times today but my phone was on silent.

I had a similar issue. I'd applied for a loan, written my DOB and they (internally in the bank) determined that my "9" was a "4". So when I recently phoned the bank who I'd banked with for 35 years, they asked me my DOB. Apparently I had it wrong. Stupid me. I asked "what did I get wrong" and they said "privacy doesn't allow me to tell you what you got wrong".

Right.

They suspended my account forthwith!

So I went to the bank and they said that my DOB was xx/4/19xx. Not xx/9/19xx. I said to them "so what gave you the right to assume that my customer details were wrong on your machine for 35 years, on the basis that you couldn't read my "9". ****. I didn't get a satisfactory answer at all. That reminds me, I must talk to the ombudsman.

It is a common issue.

My wife bought a jacket in DJ's at West Lakes when we were over here for a few weeks 2007 and back in Melbourne wore it into DJ's at Glen Waverley and triggered the beep as we were leaving that store. We went to the counter and explained and they removed the device for us.

I had a jacket I'd bought at Kathmandu in Wantirna Sth in Melbourne in 2007 and discovered it triggered the alerts at Harvey Norman in Mt Barker in 2009. HN's disabled the device sown into the collar for me.
