Wow, I wish Geelong had done as much as Port to turn themselves around when we were millions of dollars in debt and hadn't won a flag in decades.
KT admitting defeat there as if they've done the most of any club in Australia to turn things around and are still clocking up millions of dollars of losses then there is absolutely no point in continuing as things can only get worse.
What an awful and pathetic culture they have down there, one of blame, incompetence and neglect. No hint of courage, determination or intelligence.

But apart from all that they're going OK hey?

The relentless attacks and swipes by a few on here show just how pathetic your lives must be. I feel sorry for some of you. You must have nothing better to do.

Port have to try to tap into the younger generation if they are to succeed.
I know both SA clubs do a fair bit of work in the state but the message doesnt seem to be getting through.
I know at my junior club there are about 20 kids who are members of AFL clubs and there is not 1 amongst them who is a member of an SA side. Hell there are 2 kids who are Western Bulldogs juniors members
Obviously a lot of kids follow the sides their parents do and there is plenty of hate out there for Port so there are going to be generations of kids growing up hating Port and that will just flow on through the generations.
Not sure what Port can do to change this attitude

Your local club is I believe in the Barossa. With the Centrals/Bulldogs connection, I'm actually not surprised at all that there would be some juniors who follow the Western Bulldogs.

For the record, how many would be junior members of the Crows?

Sorry Jim, I misread your initial post. I thought it said zero junior members of Port (not zero members of SA clubs).

I wonder how much is to do with the superstars like Buddy who there is a lot of hype about, and when we look at Friday night football - which is monopolised by the big Victorian clubs - this is probably what the kids watch most often. They are probably at local footy on Saturdays when the SA clubs often play. They probably also wouldn't catch a lot of SA based media (Advertiser, 5AA, local tv news) which focuses primarily on the AFC and PAFC.

Far from it. Your CEO releases a statement that some see has some "flaws". I doubt it makes one pathetic to question some of these statements and put their own personal opinions against them. Booney, your comment, to me, suggests you've possibly run out of defence for your club (which surprises me).

There is no avoiding sa based media on AFC and pafc in sa even if you don't want to hear/see it.

There isn't, but those in the younger generation would be a little more shielded from it, compared to older South Australians who rely on tv news and the Advertiser for their media content.

I thought the comment suggested Booney was disheartened by his constant overrating of Port Adelaide. Each to their own interpretation I guess. ;)

I agree with Booney about how sad the lives must be of some who seem to derive their only pleasure by making mostly ill informed and emotive hate statements about the misfortunes of others. Not sure if that is the typical Aussie "tall poppy" syndrome at work or inferiority complex - but it makes depressing and uninteresting reading.
Many have agonised over the fear of Port being successful in the AFL since about 1996 and don't appear to have moved on. My position is that I support the club, the Administration, the players and the teams that represent Port - in the AFL & SANFL. The passion shown by so many Port haters is expected because though they will never admit it, they know Port have an enviable record of success over more than 100 years of being a great sporting identity in this state. Like Booney, and other genuine Port people, I'm here for the long haul and a few years of poor performance won't prevent total loyalty from me in their time of greatest need.

Well Ruben - how about telling your fellow Port supporters to stop coninually blaming the SANFL and the SANFL clubs for your current plight! I hear and read so many mis-informed, non factual and uneducated comments from Port people about how much they pump into the SANFL and the SANFL clubs being greedy and needing that money to survive which is not factually correct in the main.

The "chip" on your shoulders about how Port carried the SANFL until they joined the AFL is derogatory and insulting to the other clubs who made up the league to allow your success. If you had no other teams in the league how many flags would you have won?

Interesting. So Mighty Paper Tiger thinks that there are no successful AFL teams I guess because since the AFL was formed, no club has won more than 3 flags. But Port have had more premiership success in the AFL than
St Kilda
Richmond
Melbourne
Bulldogs
Freo
GWS
Gold Coast

And the same amount (1)as Carlton.

So no wonder everyone is so focussed on Port's lack of success.

Quite the opposite. Despite just having to swallow* further bad news to add to 5 pretty bloody average years on all fronts, I find myself looking forward with more optimism than I have of late.

Its clear our last group of administrators were not doing the job well , most people ( not just Port and someNorwood fans ) would agree Keith Thomas is pretty impressive and whether you like him or not, Kochie is already putting his name and Port Adelaide forward in a fresh positive manner.

Proud of the past. Confident of the future. Indeed....!
