Can never please everybody
Redbacks supporters complain when we dont get players picked for Australia and then complain when they are away on national duties and not representing the state

not me, redbacks first everytime.
The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Every States primary objective should always be to produce test players.

Thank god he is gone.
Or should it be credited to the new head selectors.
Sanity finally.

Interesting post
Heres some stats as a guide
I will go back to the South African series in 2008-2009 with some batting stats for Ricky Ponting
Take particular note of Rickys series against South Africa from then until this 'devil' of a series just ending

2008-2009 SA 47.50
2008-2009 SA 35.00
2008-2009 IN 38.00
2008-2009 NZ 33.33
2009-2009 EG 48.12
2009-2010 WI 34.00
2009-2010 PA 63.00
2009-2010 NZ 23.00
2010-2010 PA 24.50
2010-2011 EG 16.14
2010-2011 IN 56.00
2011-2011 SL 31.00
2011-2012 SA 17.50
2011-2012 WI 24.33
2011-2012 IN 108.80
2011-2012 NZ 33.00
2012-2013 SA 6.66

i have just looked at his stats a bit deeper (apart from after his first 2 tests) his highest career average was 59.99 on 1/12/2006. in the 6 years since his peak he only averaged 39. that is a longer decline than i had realised.

just for comparison tendulkar peaked at 58.87 in feb 2002, since then he has 51, and in the same period as ponting (dec 06 to today) he has averaged 53.

You dont get picked on stats alone, what about his leadership around the team, the way he has helped develop Clarke's leadership? his fielding has been first class right to the end. All at a time when there are no batsmen banging down the door to play test cricket.
