I'd play hazel wood.
I do not rate Hastings personally.
I'm more than happy for him to prove me wrong tho

That blue cap really makes it a sure thing.

Forget Putland, Nathan Coulter-Nile (home deck) and Jackson Bird (outstanding) would be spewing.

Here we go. Try telling that to Hughes, Khawaja or even Lyon. Better still how about actually producing a few players from your own state maybe?

No. Opposition batsmen love him as do the advertisers who pay for the billboards on the boundary line.

I still haven't forgiven Freddie Mercury for his bowling stint at Lords in the last England tour. A black mark on the history of Australian Cricket. The clown couldn't remember what pitch we were playing on. :evil:

I know that Hazlewood is rated highly, but he's taken nine wickets in two games this year.
When you're looking to win a series, when you want to win knowing that next Test this guy will be no shot of returning (Siddle and Hilf to return), you pick a form bowler, not a long term prospect who may spud up.
Bird= 27 wickets in 6 games
Butterworth= 25 wickets in 6 games
Hastings= 23 wickets in 6 games
Putland= 19 wickets in 3 games
Hazlewood= 9 wickets in 4 games

I agree that Bird's had a great season so far, but I think the Bellerive pitch needs to be considered when looking at his figures.

I'm happy with Johnson coming in. Is entertaining if nothing else.
I'm a fan of Hazlewood, but do not think he is ready yet...is not in good 4-day form.
I'm a bit surprised Cutting was not ahead of Hastings, but hastings has had a solid start to the season.

HAven't caught up with the news this morning, but wondering if the pitch is green due to the Perth weather this week and this swayed the selectors thinking to Hastings?

My issue was with your 'NSW bias' call at a time when Khawaja and Hughes have switched states go get a gig and Lyon and Cowan had to go to another state to do the same. Meanwhile there was four Victorians in the side in the last test and only two who had the 'magical' Blue Cap.

I've always thought that talking about what states a selected player comes from is a narrow minded parochial view. Who cares what state they come from as long as Australia wins. Victoria currently have the most players in the test side because they are currently the best state. This 'NSW Bias' shit is old hat. Time to change the record.

surely it wouldn't be Siddles choice not to play, cause i reckon that would look very soft... Also ordinary of the selectors not to play him if he's keen. Aussies are chance to knock of the best team in the world and we don't pick our best side!!! Toughen up!!!

They have professionals to judge if they are right or not and they said they were not. Siddle actually said he hoped to be right but wasnt positive yet.
