Salary Cap Issues - Norwood, West & Port

All discussions to do with the SANFL

The fact it was on 5AA gives it ZERO credibility, ffs if everyone had to make a public announcement every time a 5AA rumour was incorrect there'd be noone left to record it as everyone would be making statements.
Oh, by the way I think Central were over the salary cap limit. The fact I've got some rumours in the past right gives me some credibility.
Shit, better get Kris Grant to come out and make a public statement now.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Do agree the SANFL could put this all to bed by simply coming out and saying the rumours about the Norwood FC are not true.

Or is that to common sense

I'm not normally one to back Norwood but didn't they say in their statement that the SANFL had confirmed to them that their payments as lodged were under? Would have thought its Norwoods issue to take up and if I was them, I'd be onto my lawyers to take Dittmar down.

How would Dittmars legal representation mount a defence? By being granted legal access to every financial document held at the club for a specific period of time?

Dittmar would have to state why he believed that Norwood was over the cap and produce his evidence in the form of witness/documents that led him to make the statement.

Have long thought the salary cap is a good idea, partly because it produces an even playing field and partly because it keeps clubs spending to an affordable amount. However, we are still seeing clubs dominate the competition, and we are still seeing some clubs struggling to survive financially. So, should and could the salary cap just be scrapped? Would this allow us to bring more of the next best lot of players outside the AFL over to play in the SANFL? Is the salary cap a good thing and a necessary thing for the SANFL? If $360,000 is the current salary cap, how much might clubs spend if there was no salary cap?

OR, make the cap on a sliding scale, the top side is allowed $250,000 & the amount increases the lower on the table the side finished.

The lower placed clubs get the benefit of the mini-draft selections which would save them money. What about the pints system that they use in regional footy, does that work?

A CEO of a SANFL club told me the premiership loosely fits the scale of best to worst run clubs!
Ofcoarse there are lot's of interesting factors that come into play, but it seems about right.

Or a system where the highest teams drinks schooners and then a sliding scale eg the mid-teams drink pints and the lower teams drink jugs. :D

or the top team drinks soft drinks, the mid-teams drink beer and the bottom teams drink from the top shelf. :D

I believe if taken to court a salary cap system is illegal anyway.
