sorry Punter, you have done Australian cricket proud for many a year but it's time to pack the kit up and move on

Yes sad to see.
He must not be allowed to go to England next year.
Give him a farewell game in Perth and then give an incoming player the 3 tests against the Lankans to get acclimatised

Sorry disagree Jim, you dont give him a farewell game, its about winning games of cricket not having farewell games ;)

Aust 5/111 at stumps

Lead 273

Need at least 100 more you would think

S.A. get quick wickets in the morning they may be chasing less than 300.

Our best 2 batsman at the crease however, 1st hour tomorrow could decide this test match.

did I read a few pages ago in this thread about another Adelaide Oval road and a draw, there will be a result in this game you would think and maybe as early as tea on day 5

True but I doubt they will make two changes to the batting line up and possibly 3 for the match if pattinson doesn't get up.

Watson will come in for Quiney, so imho Ponting will be safe especially considering there is not many batsmen knocking down the door in the shield.

Yeah cant see them making too many changes for Perth.
For the Lankans though id go with Warner and Hughes to open, push Cowan to 3 and Watto to 4.
Is it as simple as Starc coming straight in for Patto or do they try another quick like a Bird or Feldman?

That's pretty early.

Agreed. You can't keep giving a bloke a run based on past glories. Yes Punter, you were brilliant, but your output (especially his dismissal in the first dig) clearly shows that you're not up to it any more.

Rightly or wrongly Punter will play all 6 Tests this summer ... unfortunately there is just not enough pressure from Shield batsmen to displace him.

Jeez, he's got the yips and has no confidence ... he even made Tahir look dangerous today.

Very sad to watch a great of the game bleed to death by a thousand cuts.

FFS here we go again, Punter has averaged 49 in Test cricket in 2012 and you want to get rid of him.

He played some very nice shots before playing one on today, which can happen to anyone.

Havent seen too many fall over trying to play a 1/2 volley as he did in the 1st innings. I think he should call time on himself b4 getting told.

Hughes does not deserve a spot yet. He needs a full year where he continues to make good scores at shield level

South African media all over the Kallis injury this morning. The Saffers selectors are arguing about who to send out to replace him because he will not be named for Perth test

Punter is the best Australian batsman I have ever seen but right now he is batting like Matthew Scarlett played his football in the 2012 season . I'm not sure about calling for his head though. Who is knocking on the door? I think he should play all six tests and IF he is in form then he goes to England. Otherwise thanks for a great career.

One of the reasons the Poms couldn't win the Ashes for twenty years was because they kept rolling out blokes like Gatting and Gooch time after time. We shouldn't do the same or the urn will remain in English hands.

regards,

REB
