BTW, I think this no runner rule is a joke, Chappelli's take on it was spot on.

The rule was brought in to stop blokes like Ranatunga asking for a runner due to cramp and being unfit

Surely they can show some discretion and allow a runner to those who are genuinely injured during a match.

The no-runner rule is like the old one-bouncer-per-over rule in tests - a completely over-the-top "solution".

Incidence like Kallis certainly deserve a runner.

Any rule will never be ideal and there will always be someone to try to get around it.
Perhaps they could try a rule where if a batsman calls for a runner while batting he can have one for 20 or 30 minutes, and after this either has to do without or retire hurt - if up to 7 wickets have fallen he has to wait for two to fall, if 8 wickets he can obvsiouly come back at the fall of the next.
