I used to love bowling up there, had plenty of life that other pitches didn't have.

That would have been before the council hacked it up years ago and then re planted the wrong grass. The groundskeepers, club volunteers and even club president have been re planting/plugging etc the square over the last few seasons. The grass coverage now is 100x better compared to this time in previous years.

Last season: 521 runs at 43 and 17 wickets in 2 day cricket, 270 runs at 53 and 7 wickets in one day cricket
This season: Ave just un 40 in 3x2 day matches and Ave 139 in 2 one day matches

wow averaging 40 for nearly two seasons! you think that should put tyou close to state selection! have a chat to ben hook, he played A grade cricket when this state was successful. he had about 13 or 14 years IN A ROW that were better than that and still never got a chance (apart from 1 match in newcastle), living in the now jason borgas is still twice the player evans is (I am disregarding evans' mediums he would not bowl in state cricket unless we were in a hell of a lot of trouble)

no worries champ your obviously confused - ill spell it out for you:

1 - We are talking about him getting a crack at Futures level not playing SS.
2 - If were living in the now I will disregard Ben Hooks scores 10 years ago (no disrespect to Ben)
3 - Jason had his crack at state level 5 years ago and for whatever reason didn’t cement his spot
4 - Jason is also 5 years older than Tim

The West Torrens District Cricket Club in conjunction with the Southern District Cricket Club are pleased to announce the introduction of the Max Martin-Shane Paul Suicide Prevention Cup, that will be awarded for the first time after the fixture between the two clubs in season 2012/13.

Max Martin (WT) and Shane Paul (SD) were two cricketers from the clubs that tragically took their own lives in recent years. The two clubs would like to honour the memory of these players as well as raise awareness of mental health issues in young males and promote suicide prevention practices.

In contrast to other perpetual trophies played for between grade cricket clubs, this trophy will be awarded to the club that wins the fixture (majority of the 4 grades) between the two, not the winner of the A grade match. In the case of a tied result and/or draws, the club with the highest grade to win the match will be awarded the club. This process was selected to ensure that all players at both clubs were made aware of the reason we are playing for this trophy and not just the A grade.

This season the Max Martin-Shane Paul Suicide Prevention Cup will be presented at the conclusion of the A Grade match at Park 25 #1 on Saturday 1st December. We are hoping to have members of both Max’s and Shane’s families present to say a few words and help to present the cup to the winning club.

It is by coincidence that this season’s fixture between to two clubs will conclude on 1st December 2012, the day after MOvember officially ends. MOvember is an annual event that helps to raise awareness and funding for Men’s Health Issues including mental health. Therefore both the Eagles and Stingrays encourage players, supporters, friends and families to participate in MOvember this year.

Tim Allen, a former A Grade West Torrens player and brother-in-law of Max, has set up a Facebook Page and MOvember Group and we encourage everyone to join in and have some fun while raising funds for this very worthy cause.

Southern Districts Cricket Club were a strong driver of the FeBLUary Campaign that also aims to raise awareness of Mental Health problems and WTDCC will continue to be strong supporter of this outstanding campaign.

Port Adelaide have officially forfieted the rest of the season for the U16 white grade. They clearly havent even tried to attract players and the club has definately gone backwards when it seemed they were improving.

They are offering nothing towards improving cricket in this state, while the majority of the other clubs are actively seeking the best talent in their zone, looking to improve the standard of coaching and the quality of training and playing facilities in an effort to bring through future talent.

As someone that follows the club that comment is not fair for Port at all. i know that they have tried to attract more players to the club and for one reason or another it just hasn't worked out but to say that they didn't try and sit on there arses is very unfair.

PfP I have been told from clubs in the surrounding area, that they have had little to no contact with Port, thats what I have based my post on.

I have seen port improve on the field and in previous posts acknowledged that, however they have take massive steps backwards in the last year and a half, this is another example of those steps backwards.

Or Better yet how about shake up the comp to its roots and align them to an SANFL Club

Yep kids would learn more playing against men rather than in the White comp. Push a handful into minimum C grade and get rid of Whites. Those that dont make the top U16 side can play and learn more playing senior cricket for their original junior club

they would learn nothing playing in the senior B and C divisions of turf cricket except how to slog and sledge the batsman...

Generally the whites are bottom age kids of the age group (12 years for u/14, just turned 14 for under16) now if I had a son that age I would rather him play whites SACA cricket than have him ball his eyes out because some fat prick from the Northern suburbs sledged him because he put a half volley through the covers for 4...
