Played for Centrals first then was ok at North for a very short time before working out he couldn't coach Sturt if you want to stick to the timelines!

Fair go, other than one anomaly, who has been able to coach Sturt in the last 35 years?

Probably one of the top 2 or 3 in that period - Keane - was sacked, which was obviously a foolish move and hindsight wasn't really required to work that out. Thats for a different thread though obviously.

But re Trigg I can recall going to Alberton when quite young - I think it was 1980 - it was either Trigg's debut game, or he had only played a handful of games to that point. I remember it being discussed at the time that he was quite a promising junior. I reckon he may have been only around 17 when he debuted.

Thanks for putting the sequence right - I remembered Trigg with Central but not with North.
That's why I assumed he may have played for North first (before I'd ever heard of him).
Instead, it must have been after I'd stopped noticing him...

I still remember watching the news in the early 90's with Trigg going nuts at his Sturt side he was coaching.

Was he not the player that the college wouldn't release so he could play SANFL but had to play college football Saturday afternoon instead???

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Would Trigg be the first CEO to be charged by the AFL?

John Elliott should have been although he was President not a CEO.

not sure how kicking us out of the next few drafts is going to effect the teams performance in 2013/14. From where I sit its our best chance to win a flag or 2 in the clubs history. If it happens I won’t care if we drop out of the 8 for a few years and share the first pick and priority picks with Melbourne for a few years. If we don’t win a flag or 2 I guess we will just join the long list of great teams that never won a flag.

GREAT TEAMS BWAHAHAHA. Turn it up Tassie. When you make the top four for a few years in a row when you aren't playing six matches, yes, six against Port, GC, and GWS then you might be considered a GOOD side. Next year you don't get those six games and you've only got one Gorilla now in the forward line instead of two.

Meanwhile, I would suggest that there is no such thing as a 'great team that did not win the flag' ever, let alone there being a long list.

REB

ah the old soft draw comment again. Just so you know Adelaide play Port twice every season always have and always will it’s just a bonus that they are not the great at the moment. We play each team at least once so that makes 2 extra games against weaker sides not 6.
You might also like to know Adelaide finished 14th in 2011 so would you have preferred a top 4 side from 2011 play Adelaide twice giving the top 4 team “soft draw”?. Are you also expecting Port to finish top 4 in 2013 as they play Adelaide, GC and GWS twice?

Ok maybe I should have said good team rather than great team. Or did Geelong not have a good team for 40 plus years?

I think we all know that any Premiership contender in 2012 would've loved to swap draws with the Crows.
However, last year is last year & there are no guarantees about 2013. Even before all the Tippet dramas I expected the Crows would not improve on last seasons result - In fact I expected them to fall down the ladder & struggle to make the 8.
Why? They had a brilliant draw; stuff all injuries; 1st year under new coach & a refreshed outlook after years of suppression & robotic expectations from the old one.... next year could be a very different story. Especially now !
My guess now is they'll fall out of the 8 & if Tippet somehow does manage to play against them in 2013, forget about the "booing" and petulant childish Crow-like behaviour of most of their idiotic supporters - he will be the one who makes life even more embarrassing and heart-breaking by playing the game of his life against them. After all, he is a quality, big game performer & he'll see that as a really really big game for certain. Look out Crows fans.... King Kurt might be the one driving the Karma bus! :D
