That sort of recruiting is reminiscent of the recruiting done by Victor Harbor (former Glenelg players mainly) in the early 90's.

Then there's Clayton - 4; Sheedy - 4; Bowen - 3;

One of their young blokes from last year was 3 I think, so would be 2 this year if he stayed.

A club finishing 5th usually has about 13 points. I guess if they had players worth 15, they could play 2 juniors.

Bowles, Tonkes and Hales are all 0 points.

how?

There was a loophole previously in the APPS which allowed footballers that had played SANFL U'18's to transfer to country clubs for 0 points. This has now been corrected. The Mannum coach exploited this beautifully. Bowles hadn't played for a couple of years, was at the AIS for basketball.

Yep its official , Bowen , Clayton , Sheedy all to Mannum, would of cost a bit but hey , you dont get a porsch without parting with a bit of hard earned. Great for rmfl and great for Mannum , these are quality blokes not just fantastic players.

Great for Mannum, and the RMFL, but I would think it would put a bit of pressure on the Roos to win the flag.

With those players it should be a certainty, but history shows they've been close so many times in the last 2 decades, but only 1 flag to show for it.

Great for mannum yeah but hardly great for an already struggling taliem bend, it's hard enough losing key players to other leagues let alone a player heading to a rival club, as I have said before I don't understand how players change clubs in the same league and play against their apparent mates that they have abbondened!! tough times ahead for taliem one would think

A lot of positives to come out these great acquisitions. Its a credit to the MFC that this calibre of player have chosen to finish their careers off at Mannum. Great for the comp! As for Bowen, I think you'd find he's much closer to these lads then anyone at Tailem, including the departed Wark. However, I'm sure the decision would have been extremely tough.

it wouldnt suprise me if The greatest one the magnificant Collo applied for the coaching job , i might even jump ship to the roos. All jokes aside the great one is quietly assesing the situation and assembling a team that many will be suprised with, Waite is staying and the recruits that are discussed are done in private . Maybe the chip man needs to take a lesson from this and gag himself , the best kept secrets are just that secrets. The embarrasment of having ramblers win the premiership last year is tooo much to bear and thats all i will say but all teams should still be very worried of the team the great man is putting together.

Sounds like standard imps bring in the recruits to fix the problem, even though they have the biggest amount of depth by a mile, and plenty of up and coming quality juniors coming up through the ranks, but no let's keep half of these A grade quality players playing in the 2's and bring in some out of towners to play A grade, I still believe all that cost imps success last yr was the injury of the big fella Davey.

Roos having a real crack. Gee u got to feel sorry for Duane Eddy at this stage. Heres hoping he can find a few recruits to bring down so they can be competitive. Coming from a long ways back already.

You are correct , the recruits will be good but the kids from last year Hale tonks and bowles have a point to prove and i think these lads will be the difference , they all improved a lot last year and with the experience in the team now they will be hard to stop. Still if a gf is there to be lost the roos will do it so the pressure is on them.

That is an interesting observation you make. I know Mannum have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at players for next season so would tend to think it is more the attraction of hefty pay packets that have enticed them, not necessarily the standard of the club. One of their recruits has 50.000 reasons for finishing his career with them and I guess the others would have similar reasons also.

Well think it's a dog act by mannum, talk about kicking a man while hes down, i'm sure the money they are throwing around they could have got a ruckman from anywhere!! Good for the league!! get off the grass, try telling Tailem how good it is, crap effort, used to have a bit of time for Mannum as a club, they have just lost all respect i had for them!

I think once Warky left Tailem, this then confirmed Bowey was on the move. I don’t think Bowey knew where at that stage, but on reflection his home ended up being the Roos.
I guess there are two winners to this story (1) Mannum and (2) RMFL for retaining the services of arguably SA country footy best ruckman. And Tailem were always going to be losers in any transaction as Bowan was gone in any event. Yes I do feel sorry for the Eagles, but the club will still soldier on.

Gee i love it when Mannum cop it But, we didnt get that response when we lured Sayers and krollig from Mannum who were struggling at the time and i dont think that ramblers coped much either when they stole Machetti and zadow, some of these players were once the best in the comp. I know its another comp but how is that little womble Quinns style , Mannum have been hit harder than anyone over the years with players leaving for big bucks . I remember when Tailem won 3 may have been 4 premierships in a row they were as cocky as hell , there time will come again tho. Lets face it if Bowen walked into any club and wanted to play who in their right mind would tell him they dont want him.

I think you'll find that Mannum did not chase Bowen it was more of a case where he wanted to play with hall, clayton and co who are his friends and we have tried to find a way to accommodate him. To say Mannum are dogs over this is an unfair call as we DID NOT instigate the move, Bowen came to us.
