Number 20 is still a handy pick and besides the AFL might take next years picks off you aswell

Agreed

Plus we will lose Tippett for nothing so it's really pick 20 plus another high pick plus anything else we lose

Can't be glossed over

Your squad is in pretty good shape at the moment so I dont see draft picks this year or even next impacting too much upon your on-field development.

I dont think the AFL will be that harsh with the penalties to impact you in the next 3-5 years and they also cant take into account how strong the list is at the moment ( as they are unable to do with the Melbourne tanking investigation where in all reality they should go light on them as they are rooted for years anyway ) so for mine you'll get out of this in pretty good shape.

Other than being caught out as salary cap cheats (allegedly). ;)
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Think the AFL will need to go light on the Dee's even if just to protect themselves - Melbourne worked within the system the AFL had created, and the AFL won't be willing to take their/any share of the blame.

JK that's true but the Tippett deal was borne out of the Crows trying to match the $1m offer made to Kurt by the cashed up Suns (if IIRC) created by the AFL in Kurts home turf. Those expansion teams inflated players' salary expectations and you'd have to assume all sorts of deals were done and are being done potentially outside the rules as clubs try to counter mega offers on the table from GC and GWS.

In neither case would the AFL let clubs off for doing things outside the rules regardless of whether the root cause was the environment they themselves created. The priority pick system was flawed but was designed for clubs genuinely in the pit not teams tanking to look like they are on a worse position list wise than they really are.

It's not a defense for either club IMO as has been said for the Crows many times rules are rules and you can't twist them to your advantage. Also no defense that other clubs have bent the rules in the same way.

When the AFL get hard evidence to use to make an example as a deterrent they will do so.

Sorry Hondo, my comment was purely only directed toward the Dee's .. I still believe they worked within the rules/system the AFL had created, albeit they could get done on some Grey area like "bringing the game into disrepute".

The Crows on the other hand, were just plain stupid and will have no argument when their medicine is dished out.

Why didn't Geelong think of that? Oh yeah, it's cheating. Better to lose a sulky sook and keep your club.

I agree REB

It's those sort of smart calls that give you 3 flags in 5 years including one after Gaz left while we lose credibility, draft picks and fines

My post was not meant to be a defense. I'm furious at Reidy, Trigg and whoever else knew about this.

If a player doesnt want to be there let them go and move on FFS

Trigg says the fans wanted us to sign him but what we really want is premierships and he may just have cost us one

Now it's getting real nasty ...

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 6516154257

KURT Tippett has declared his innocence in the Adelaide salary cap scandal and threatened to sue the club if deregistered by the AFL.

In a move which will further incur the wrath of Crows fans, Tippett has accused Adelaide of inducing him to enter into an unlawful agreement with the club in 2009.

A Crows spokesman last night confirmed "some legal correspondence" had lobbed at the club from the Tippett camp, angrying officials.

"We've looked at it and it's disappointing but we're not going to act on it until we see what happens on Monday," the spokesman said.

"At the moment we've got another case to prepare."

Monday is D-Day for Adelaide, which has been summoned to appear before the AFL Commission to answer charges of draft and salary cap breaches emanating from the contract Tippett - who has walked out on the club and wants to join Sydney - signed three years ago.

If found guilty, the Crows face a hefty fine and suspension from up to four drafts.

Tippett - who yesterday failed to nominate for the November 22 national draft and is now likely to be selected at the December 11 pre-season draft - is confident of escaping a penalty.

Well he is cementing his place as the most disliked player in afl history. Should just deregister him for being a peanut.
