Yes. More too it than distance.

Hang time is far more important than distance in the NFL.

You can punt a ball 'too far' resulting in a twenty yard restart but giving the ball as much hang time as possible is always required.

Though if you can kick distance I'm sure u can also give it decent hang time

IIRC, theres nothing in the way of an amateur league as such to start off in.

If you arent good enough to play in college after high school, then you pretty much dont play at all.

Sounds like Sam Smith has signed with Sturt after being the leading goalkicker in the SFL for Flagstaff Hill this year, have seen him play a bit and is certainly a talent, is a Ben Warren type lead up forward, but can take a grab!
