Puts SA well in front although on this track still a draw for mine.

SA to win the next 2 tests and have the aussie media turn on Ponting and Hussey again as they are ageing easy targets

Every year leading up to the Gabba Test, all the talk is how it will be over in 3 days on a green top etc etc and as always it turns out to be a belter of a pitch, flatter than Adelaide Road.

Also every year, nothing changes, bowlers still walk a tightrope by flirting with the crease with No Balls and pay the penalty by missing out on wickets.
As i said last year, these highly paid professional bowlers and their coaches should be sacked if they cant perform the simple task of keeping some part of their front foot BEHIND the F*****G Line.

Fair bit of aggro about our boys on here today. Let's face it the Saffers are the best in the world and we aren't. We are playing on the best batting strip in the country and with Watson out we've lost a lot of flexibility in our attack. Having Quinney and Hussey at the bowling crease on day one was never in the dossier I'm sure.

It's one thing to clean up the heartless Indians who dissolve quicker than a Berroca once they hit a bouncy deck but these blokes are the genuine article. You have to earn their wicket and from the play I saw we struggled to apply any pressure. I'm fairly sure that 'dossier' was absolutely bogus..or at least I hope it was because the way we got the Indians out was to pitch the ball up and dry up the runs, not by bouncing and sledging them. Bowling both sides of the wicket against the best batsmen in World Cricket is only going to lead to a lot of inflated bowling averages and a big burger ring in the W column come Christmas.

All is not yet lost however but Pidgeon got it dead right. Bowl at one side of the wicket. In the hour I saw today Amla and Kallis scored nearly sixty runs which is ridiculous at Test level. Turn off the tap and the wickets will come. Good batsmen like to score runs...even the monumentally patient Kallis.

Yep I think siddle has spent the winter perfecting the waste high 'bouncer'

I love siddle as much as the next bloke but his performance today has been as bad I have seen from an Aussie fast bowler in a long time

Or at least since Mitchell Johnson played. I thought Hilf was average as well really struggled with his line.

Yeah mark Taylor was very critical off hilfenhaus without saying it he pretty much said he is a one trick pony. Worrying sign with the hilf is that bowling arm is starting to get very round again. When at his best that bowling arm is nice and high.

Siddles afternoon spell was a tad better but up until tea he was amatuerish , 3 slips v
Gully, point and his continually bowling waist high at the body while Peterson pulls him well every time.

Clarke was good today though at times I think he over uses the part timers in search for a wicket. In today's case over bowled quiney and Hussey and underbowled Lyon and probably himself

Oh we'll here's to a few quick wickets in the morning

I thought Clarke had a bad day today.
Some of his field placings and tactics were bizarre to say the least.
Dont know who the rocket scientist is that decided to bounce out the terrorist because he is a much improved player of the short ball than when he first started out playing.
The bowlers needed to pitch it up a lot more today and stick to bowling one line for a sustained period of time.
Agree with Tubby about Hilf, have always thought he was a one trick pony.
Would have loved to see Starc get a gig but the Aussies will always pick a spinner.
Couple of quick wickets tomorrow weather permitting and who knows.
Dont think its the end of the world just yet, would like to see us fight this out

Well sed REB. 2 be the best you have 2 play the best. Thought Pattinson bowled well at times. Just need boys 2 dry up runs and hunt in packs. Smith was having a field day with ball aimed at hips. Peterson, Kallis and Amla took advantage of wayward bowling. If JP out what a bouns for aussies.
