Sainter, You might be thinking of his brother Tony. Shane kicks the ball 60 metres plus while Tony has a very very awkward kicking style.

In answer to Wonder Elephant:

Shane is about 6' 4" strong build without being solid, very agile and one of the quickest players in the competition. He is only an average ruckman and as a result plays as a follower or centreman. He is only be about 30 and going by last Saturdays results would have scored 3 votes.

Gonzo would have to be the most breathtakingly brilliant footballer I have seen in 35 years of football. In 1997 he was at his peak and apart from he and Shane Schulz we did not have much of a team. Paringa kicked 48 goals against us one day but we had Gonzo and he kicked 8 from CHF to give us 15 - late finish that day. On another occasion an opposition coach lamented " We had no one who could stop him. he's kicked 14 and I think he was playing on the wing".
I was crumbing a goalsquare pack at Wunkar one day when Gonzo took a hanger, I was looking up and I could see the soles of his boots as he was bringing it down.

Andy Sharrad - very good footballer tough, hard and good skills and played his best football from a wing. Similar player to brother Bill but with a bit more class.

Can't make a comparison, as I've never seen Dan play.
But...Brett's won a Whillas Medal here, and you don't win those easy.

Trevor Thorpe's in (senior) career best form, DW.
I haven't seen him play this well since under 18s.
If there was an betting outlet Riverland footy, I'd be on him for the medal at this stage....although he and Ex will take some votes of each other.

Why is Thorpe playing so much better! Has he lost a few Kilos Barry....

RB - Thorpe has lost a lot of fat but put it on in muscle....spending a lot of time in the gym....also recaptured the pace he had as a junior.

Elephant - I saw Dan play in the trial against us earlier in the year and he looked pretty good. Like you say, very hard at the footy. But pretty hard for me to make a comparison without seeing more of him. Brett's a gun though....

And for the record....Shane Schulz thoroughly deserved all 4 Mail Medals. On his day the bloke is a superstar.
