MEDIA RELEASE
The Board of the West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Collins as Club Coach for season 2013.
Both the Board and Andrew were keen to see him to continue in his role as Club Coach to maintain the stability of our club.
During the past five seasons Andrew has changed our club’s culture and built a quality, and dedicated playing list.
He has taken us from the worst period in our club’s history (of four consecutive wooden spoons between 2005 and 2009) to a Grand Final in 2012. We congratulate Andrew on this commendable achievement.
Andrew has made certain sacrifices to continue on as West Adelaide Coach which the club greatly appreciates. He is determined to keep the playing group on course to achieve our ultimate goal of winning the SANFL premiership.
For any further comment please only contact either myself or our CEO, Kym Russell.

this is my favorite part ...

Andrew has made certain sacrifices to continue on as West Adelaide Coach which the club greatly appreciates.

He's just so selfless, wanting nothing but the betterment of his club (and $150K and more money invested in transfer fees that the US spend on their military).

Well done Collo ... well done

A sad day for SANFL football and I'd imagine crowds for Westies will continue to drop, poor Westies supporters, but I know what it was like when we had Healey. Id rather come bottom than have to watch the crap they serve up every week. Hopefully Collins isn't as stubborn as Healey and changes some things.
Its made the front page on the papers here and Thailand is in mourning too. ;)

Not true, According to the Melb press he is still retiring as CEO of Docklands...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Whatever your thoughts on his game plan, it's a gutsy decision by Westies to stick with their man and good on them for keeping the faith with a bloke who's done a lot for the place. We'll just wait and see what it results in next season...

Think the last West Adelaide coach to be sacked after making the Grand Final was Neil Kerley in 1963.
Took South from bottom to top in 1964 !
