The people voted for Mr Sheen and Ranny as well, but they got dumped by the people who actually run the Labor Party
David Feeney, Don Farrell or Sam Dastyari should be Leader and Deputy Leader.

So, there is a deal done between the two sides to put Redmond in as Leader and Marshall as Deputy and that worries everyone.
What about the Labor people voting to put Farrell in as No 1 and Wong as No 2 on the ticket? A deal is done to swap them. No one vote in that one; just embarrassment.
It is standard convention in the Labor Party that the Prime Minister and Deputy are from different factions regardless of ability
Weatherill is from the Labor Left and Rau is from the Right.
It has really been a blessing some of the Ministers we have got due to the Labor system of factional appointment instead of your abilities.

Mr Albanese had led an open campaign on behalf of Senator Wong, decrying "factionalism gone mad" and arguing that senior ministers should not face challenges or be forced to compete against more junior MPs in Senate pre-selection contests.

Without trying to defend Portolesi who doesn't come across as all that great, but what has she supposedly done wrong here?

Mislead parliament? traditionally a sack-able offence in the Westminster tradition.

They can lie all they want outside the Parliament, but doing it inside IS a sackable offence

The plot thickens
Portolesi says the Police told them not to say anything - Police call bull$hit on her
Weatherill didn't know about the case even though he was Education Minister????? Now he wants the Government to explain when HE was the person in charge!!!

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/education/police-call-for-school-sex-case-alerts-to-be-issued-to-parents/story-fn3o6nna-1226507878736

A spokeswoman for Premier Jay Weatherill, who was education minister when the 2010 incident occurred, said he found out about the case on Tuesday.
In Parliament he said the Government did need to explain to parents why it kept the information secret.

I'm guessing that the government cars waiting outside of the Adelaide Town Hall last night after the Billy Bragg concert were for SA Labor Government members. It will be interesting to see if they learnt something about what their party should be aiming for.

LOL, WADH ...

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... 6508564888

A FORMER South Australian Opposition frontbencher has been forced to apologise for suggesting there are paedophiles in the ranks of the state Labor Party.

During a terse interchange in the Upper House today as Tourism Minister Gail Gago accused the Opposition of disunity, Liberal Terry Stephens said: "We haven't got any paedophiles in our group.

"Hey, Gail, how many paedophiles have you got over there?"

No current or past members of the Labor Party has been charged or convicted of any offences of paedophilia.

Former Labor MP Bernard Finnigan is facing six aggravated child pornography charges.

He has not been accused of any offences involving direct contact with children.

Industrial Relations Minister Russell Wortley accused Mr Stephens of making "one of the most unparliamentary comments I have heard in the time I have been here".

"That is an appalling comment," he said.

Mr Stephens withdrew the comment when asked by the Upper House President.

Pretty ordinary comment.

Wasn't there some state Lib accused or alleged to have been involved with disabled minors, Unley type MP or something? It was a while ago but I think he was hounded by his own party to quit and briefly became an independent and then quit. Can't remember his name or the details for the life of me though.

Oh okay my mistake.

But yeah Mark Brindal was the guy I was thinking of. So even though there was a huge uproar at the time it was just about him being bi?

Now that I've been reminded of his name I looked him up and remembered why it was pretty ugly at the time, the 24yo guy was mentally impaired and had a carer but yeah it wasn't ped stuff.

Portelesi and likely Chloe Fox will both go the way of Jane Lomax Smith at the next election if both of them don't suddenly find a way to do their jobs with some level of competence, irrespective of what swing for or against the ALP is seen at the next election.
