Mentioned to me yesterday that he is waiting on whether Andy Collins is staying or not and if he goes he has the choice of either job (reckon he will choose Westies)
So, West have not announced whether their current coach is even leaving while Port have not yet started interviewing candidates and yet apparently they have both already offered Cotton the job?

Don't think so. Getting a fraction ahead of things there I think.
You dont think they have a plan if Collins doesnt go on?
attack maybe?

I believe that Collins will stay and will be paid significantly less than he has been previously. I think the current delay is about agreeing on how much less

If Collins did go though, I believe West would follow a process that included advertising the role. No responsible club would announce "Collins out, don't bother applying we've appointed Cotton"

Did he play at South?
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If it was possible to lay a bet on it then I'd like a Gorilla on Cotton to stay at Norwood as Reserves Coach.

have heard very mixed reports from players who played under him at his previous club! some very undesirable in a coach, especially the 'how many AFL games have you played' when been given suggestion from players.

Would be a big suprise if Port went outside to grab a coach for 2013.
This one is a one year gig if ever there was one :o
But if any club can butcher a coaching appointment, this is the one re. Mark Williams
Westies though are really pushing Port; Why would they not make the call on Collo themselves? That's one coach who is definately replacable.

Mead seems to cause conflict everywhere he goes and then walked out on them last year. His time at South was much the same.

Very strange to then consider him for top job. Good players don't automatically make good coaches.

Hope West don't give him the time of day if Collins does go. Would hate to see Norman get the Port job and then have Bloods finally decide they are looking for a coach when we could have had him with us.

He did get Gaza to a GF in SAAFL Div 1 but unfortunately came up against Goodwood Saints during their 5 in a row dynasty.

Interesting if mead gets the job.seen the reason why he stepped aside from the reserves job is he didnt see eye to eye with bamford.mead wanted to play senior players and try win a reserves premiership instead of playing younger up and coming players from the u'18s.what will he do if he gets job, look at youth or stick with senior players.

i don't think it was Mead and Bamford disliking each other, just a difference in opinion on the direction to take the club. Won't be an issue if he got the job because he would set the direction himself
