Its not the strength of the competition, its the relative standing of the competition that is the relevant point - winning a flag when the competition is the strongest in town, versus winning a flag when the league has lost a little bit of standing/relevance in the Australian football community.

When did Norwood last dominate the competition anyway? Certainly not in anyone's living memory, but it may happen now.

Certainly, though, the competition was much stronger until 1990. Up until that stage the better SANFL sides were certainly stronger than the weaker VFL sides. You couldn't say that now about the SANFL and the AFL. It is just a fact of life but al the same no sensible person should denigrate Centrals efforts in the last 12 years.

^ what the wise one said.

If any of you seriously thinks that the SANFL of today is somehow less relevant than the SANFL of yesteryear, or that flags won in the 1980s are somehow more desirable than flags won in the modern era, then do us all a favour and piss off to BigFooty where your narrow-minded views will see you patted roundly on the back.

I know just four dyed-in-the-wool Norwood fans who I have bagged for the last decade about Centrals triumphs.

Finally they get their revenge and it turns out that not one of them attended the Grand Final!

What's needy and insecure about trading banter with others, only to find that when the long awaited great triumph occurs, they don't even go?

Not needy and insecure - more disappointed on their behalf that they missed it, even after I told three of them to get there and enjoy the (almost inevitable) victory by the Redlegs.
