Norwood vs Claremont

Seriously, I for one would love to see this happen, either here or in Perth. On what assumption would Claremont win after watching the SANFL grand final, if our clubs here can't beat the press how on earth would a WAFL club get through it ? We should beat them comfortably given the gap in class, think about it people!

Norwood do a great job of developing their own players. The only problem is that the AFL takes them faster than we can produce them. Norwood have about 6 or 7 players drafted every year. Do Claremont produce the same amount? You would think Norwood would start strong favourites in a game against Claremont. Even if you take away our recruits I think Norwood would still win. Remember Norwood would have won the reservs flag as well if Centrals didn't rort the system by having about 5 A graders dropped down.

I dont think people in SA realise what a quality club Claremont is.... probably the best club outside the AFL atm

I'm not talking about the SANFL as a whole I am talking about Norwood. I can list all the Norwood players drafted in recent times. We had about 6 go last year and the same the year before. That is much more than any other SANFL club. How many AFL players CLaremont produced in recent times?

Why so?

They work their zone better than most. they dont rely on interstate recruits. The few that do come from other clubs are usually the sons of former players. The juniors have had long term success. They do not reply on gambling money

Central & Port Melbourne may also argue to be the best outside the AFL.

Salary cap isn't double for a start its about 2/3 rds the sanfl. The bonus the WA clubs have is the employment options away from football are far greater and wages a lot higher than what they are here. That's why a lot of interstate players drafted to the eagles and dockers stay in WA when delisted.

considering SANFL clubs have double the salary cap and take the best of the VFL such a match would never be an even contest.... unless restricted to local players only - then Claremont would blow Norwood away

If your comparison of any state league club is over the last 3 years then Claremont is clearly in front.

Wasn't this discussion aboout who would win between Norwood and Claremont? Not which club has had the greater success in their respective leagues. I know little about the foxtel cup and as far as I know Norwood haven't even been in it the last couple of years so i don't know you could use it as a comparison. I think since the SANFL is widely regarded as the second best comp in the land then it stands to reason that Norwood would be favourites to be Claremont. On the day who knows what may happen though. Who really cares??? To be honesrt I don't have alot of interest in the WAFL and the fact they seem prepared to bend over for thier AFL teams makes me respect it less.
