I quite like that Wild Turkey American Honey too.

x2 for the American Honey. Mother in Law loves the Jack Daniels with honey, glad she does because no one else drinks it and we need to free up the purer before the christmas break.

Havent tried that one yet. Ive had the Jim Beam & Honey and that was pretty good, not as smooth as the Wild Turkey though.

Don't. It isn't very enjoyable. The Wild Turkey is the best one on the market I think.

I really rated a nice Cognac after dinner last evening (Remy Martin).
It was undiluted, and unpolluted with any form of lolly water.

Rex Jory ...

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/opin ... 6495641171

I WANT my city back. Bit by bit, Adelaide is being hijacked by the violent and the less fortunate.

The law-abiding majority are being forced into retreat, to seek safe sanctuary.

The latest chunk of Adelaide to be ceded to ruffians is the parklands in the southeast corner, opposite St Andrew's Hospital.

I tried to walk through the park one recent daylight-saving afternoon only to be abused and intimidated by a group of apparently inebriated young people.

The park is a popular shortcut for pedestrians walking to and from work from the inner southeastern suburbs.

There are signs in this section of parklands that reads: "Bush For Life Site. Trees For Life volunteers caring for bushland. Trained volunteers are protecting valuable native species."

The other night, not 50m from one of the signs, a group of people sat around a roaring fire. It's reasonable to think the fire was fuelled by timber from parklands trees.

These parklands dwellers may be nice people but I wouldn't risk walking through the park at night.

This is not an issue of race and I have some sympathy for people who, perhaps through no fault of their own, are homeless and forced to live rough.

But if I lit a fire in the parklands or urinated in view of passing traffic I would be challenged by police or the Adelaide City Council.

Apparently some fires are deemed to be "comfort fires" and are therefore exempt from action either by police or the fire brigade.

I want my parklands back.

I have written before about the almost daily congregation of people in a children's playground in the west parklands. The situation seems to have improved but I wouldn't take children to the area.

I want my playground back.

I have also written about the destruction of a new planting of native trees in the east parklands near the Christian Brothers College oval.

The council initially replaced the vandalised trees but of the original 11, five have gone and one is snapped off near the ground.

I want my trees back.

In Hindmarsh Square, the council built a children's playground.

By day it is used by workers and shoppers having lunch as well as by children.

But, at night, it seems to be the meeting place of young people intent on causing trouble.

It was here that I was king hit without warning or provocation by a young man earlier this year.

I've seen camp fires blazing in Whitmore Square. Who would venture there after dark?

I want my squares back.

Another lost section is Rundle Mall after the shops close.

It is often occupied by roaming groups of young people who, at best, are menacing. I want my Mall back.

I fear most for women and areas of the Torrens riverfront.

Even the grounds of the University of Adelaide are intimidating and, I would suggest, potentially dangerous.

Across the river, nurses from the Women's and Children's Hospital walk to their cars in groups because they are afraid of being attacked.

And then there's Hindley St.

Every city has its nightlife area but, on a recent trip to Europe, I felt safer walking the sordid red light district of Amsterdam than I do walking in Hindley St after dark.

There are other areas of the city which are literally out of bounds because of the real or perceived threat of violence.

In no way am I criticising SA Police. They do their best with the resources available.

Street safety is a complex social problem.

At the heart of it are frustrated and angry young people, opportunists and homeless street people.

Add this to a relatively low level of city pedestrian traffic after dark.

The rowdy and violent elements seem to rule the streets and parks.

It is not enough to say that all cities have areas of danger.

I have walked in Sydney, New York, London and Tokyo at midnight without the same apprehension I sense in Adelaide.

I don't care what happens in other cities. I love Adelaide. I just want it back
