There was not a lot to remember that has not been described many times - it was brief and grainy.
It was quite convincing and I don't believe the conspiracy theorists claim that it was faked.

My outstanding memory was having to raid the hospital store room for a broken down TV set and repair it myself so the medical staff could watch it as the doctors lunch room had no TV.
The other guys covered my patients while I took the back off to turn up the cathode gain to get a picture at all, and rigged an indoor antenna with wire paper trays bound together with sticky tape.

That's a great memory, Psyb. Didn't invite any patients in?

They already had a much bigger TV set in each ward.
And, of course, the clerks had one in their office.

Yes, a TV set for the two clerks in a small hospital that had 4 doctors there - and that in the days when doctors had got a ban the year before on being expected to work more than 80 hours a week and had just won penalties of time and a quarter for for being rostered on duty more than 50 hours a week!

For many people, the assassination of JFK; man walking on the moon; Gough Whitlam's booting; John Lennon's death; Elvis Presley's death; Diana's passing; and 911 loom large in our thoughts.

But where were you when you heard of the Bali bombings?

I recall that I was returning from a footy trip with Loxton. We'd stopped at the Swan Reach Hotel about 1pm and were there with Ironbank, who were returning from Mildura, when I first heard.

I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing for all of those events except the death of Elvis and the Bali bombing. I saw the Bali thing on the news and was shocked and appalled but that's it.

Was sitting in a hire car in melbourne ready to go to a Sports medicine conference when I heard the news. Found out that day from a colleague that one of the kids I used to Tutor was one fo the victims, one bloke I weant to uni with was severly burnt and another bloke I knew through footy died as well.

not a good day.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I was half asleep the following morning (Sunday) with a stinking hangover due to a night out at Shenannigans pub. My Dad heard about it on the radio, knocked on my door and told me that there had been a bombing in Bali, the Sturt team were there and it looked like they were all dead. Fantastic way to wake up from a Sturt supporter's point of view which I am fully aware is nothing compared to what the families and friends of the victims were going through.
