7 individual tons and 5 team scores of 280 plus in first two rounds of a grade cricket this season and at least 7 90 plus run partnerships. Ferguson, cooper, Harris, dougall all have grade hundreds next to their name
not to mention Kelvs 180 odd Star.....

There is also now no compulsory declarations which will mean larger scores and teams have already batted into the second day.
Great stats, however what is the bowling depth like overall currently in Grade Cricket??
Very clear to me that guys like the above mentioned can bully Grade attacks but when required to step up against strong consistent attacks at first class level they struggle repeatedly.
The Grade comp must be reduced to a maximum of 10 teams or even as low as 8 teams so the absolute best 110/88 players are competing each week.
How long will it take for Mclaughlin and his band of puppets to realise this...
So now its the bowlers fault

pretty sure all state contracted/fit players played on the weekend
Come on FS.. You come across as a very worldy and knowledgable Grade person.
Are you telling me the overall bowling strength in A grade district cricket is good enough to maintain pressure on the top batsmen to condition them to perform at the next level?

No i didnt say that, i said it was possibly one of the strongest round in recent memory as far as player availablity.

The bowling depth isnt that bad IMO - of course it isnt as strong as playing a game against 5 topline state bowlers but i would doubt any grade comp could boast that

TTGDCCs current attack is:
Habberfield (contract)
O'Hara (emerging redback squad)
Brad Evans (state U19)
Matt Weaver (experienced A grade allrounder)
Tim Cronin
Tim Evans
Adam Sommerfield

Plenty of quality options

last week Glenelg made 300 odd no one made a big score they all batted in partnerships and got over the line, week before in the 1 dayer this side held WT with Smith x2, Crossy, Prowse (handy addition from interstate) to 180 off 50 overs

The standard is definately improving IMO

Why are we going backwards in the SS then? Not having a go, just an honest question.

Its a good question Scoobydoo...

Id suggest the 'high performance program' isnt as 'high performing' as it should be. Lets not forget these regular state players play very very little grade cricket anyway.

Its not that the current crop are talentless, they simply arent mentally match hardened - look at the types of dismissals yesty

You could also mount an arguement that ATCA clubs paying $$ to more experienced grade cricketers to leave the grade cricket system dilutes the grades and the comp as a whole. This then has a flow on to the development of the next generation of cricketers if that makes sense

Also throw in the footy factor as plenty of talented kids give cricket away to focus on football. This also thins out the talent spread.

2 Victoria 5,574,500
3 Queensland 4,513,000
4 Western Australia 2,387,200

Not in this day of free range recruiting. Sure there may be less local talent but you can top that up easily nowadays.

Imagine if we'd dropped Ferg, we'd be 7 for 40

True,.third time in the past five matches he has been top scorer for SA.
Yet he is the one who some are wanting dropped?? Give me a break!! ;)

Make that only 2/10 now that percentage is dropping pretty quick

Gold :D :D

Might be time for the old switch the bating order upside down.

At least the tail will take the shine of the ball for the loosely named batsmen
