Well at least play the G/F on a Saturday then, so we can celebrate without having to work the next day. I'd imagine a Sunday at the premiers & runners up ground would be a really good day - good fund raiser for the clubs as well.

THIS .

1) HAS to be played week after AFL grand final

2) HAS to be played on a saturday unless there is a public holiday on Monday

get this right and expect consistently big crowds

The only problem with this is that if the Prelim is on the Sunday, then the winner is severely disadvantaged by the 6 day break compared the the 2nd-semi winner.

This caused lots of issues in the 80's. In fact IIRC, when Norwood won the flag in '84, they had a 7 day break whilst other prelim winners around that era only had 6 ... coincidence?

Yep, there were only a few 7 day breaks around that time.
Legs as mentioned, Bays had one in 86, Port in 90 and 94, and all were winners.
May have been others but not too many.
Can't remember too many 6-day-break teams win.

Didn't see any reports out of the GF for either side which is surprising given the last quarter "all in" and the fact Bode came off with a fairly nasty injury?

In the Advertiser it said that Nat Caruso had been reported but that hasn't appeared on the SANFL site.

Yeah, even further under than we ever expected given the absence of the likes of McGuinness, Campbell, Newton, Fuller, Eagleton, Young for most of the season, along with Donohue. I cant see how Ed Smart, Michael Chippendale, James Gallagher, Andrew Kirwan, Mark Evans, Kane Murphy etc would have been able to command much in the way of match payments when they made their way in to the league team.

What are you seriously suggesting here Holden78? Or are you just speculating?
Steve Bradbury and Michael Milton. Aussie Legends.
