Turnbull needs to make a move to help the Liberal party out. I don't see it happening tho.

Believe me he is seriously ambitious. He regards Abbott as bit of an obstacle and is on a mission to wrest back the leadership. I think it will happen.

I do and in all honesty I feel a Liberal/Nationals lead by Turnbull would do more good for the country than the same lead by Abbott. I have nothing against the Libs I just feel Tony is a big mistake for them.

I think both would be good PMs for our country. Abbott is very capable but has a low voter appeal. Turnbull is also very capable but because he hasn't had to do the dirty work in destroying Labors credibility he can slip in as a clean skin and take the reins free of negativity. Gillards team is dreading this. So, in keeping with this thread, yes she should go, rather than face a sunami this time next year. If she got out now like any self respecting person on a hiding to nothing would do, she could sit back after next years landslide and say "woo hoo move along, Nothing to do with me."

How pathetic of Hinch to bring Jones's sexual orientation into it. Love it!! All we need now is an anti Muslim and/or anti Jewish slant to round it off. Australia...you're living in it.

Pretty nasty comment by Hinch.

What Alan Jones gets up to in the privacy of public toilets is his business ;)

You can still say something you just have to be very careful on what you say. Hinch's comments were amusing. What Jones said was wrong. He wouldn't have said it about Abbott.

I've been away so I'm commenting now, but Jones' comments were disgraceful IMO. I don't like Julia and I don't like Jones.

However, I don't think his radio station should sack him, as I think that's over the top. He's a reprehensible person IMO and wouldn't listen to him even if I was in Sydney, but he's employed by them to make inflammatory comments from time to time.

I wouldn't listen to them but obviously thousands do and you might just find his ratings go up because of this tirade.

1 - If this is about Jones' comments, then that wouldn't appeal to anyone as "humour", even stupid Americans.
2 - If this is about Jones' comments, I have not seen that Gillard is suing him.
3 - If this is about Jones' comments, how could they seen as anything but completely abhorent, distasteful, lacking respect and delivered from the mouth of someone who has never been as important has he thinks he is.

WHY LABOR NEEDS A DISTRACTION

According figures released today by Roy Morgan Polling, in September 2012 an estimated 1,213,000 Australians (10% of the workforce, up 0.2% in a month) were unemployed.

In additional, a further 903,000 Australians are under-employed - working part-time and looking for more work.

According to Roy Morgan, in total 2,116,000 Australians were unemployed or under-employed in September (17.4% of the workforce) - which is up significantly by 462,000 over the past 12 months since September 2011 - and the affects of the Carbon Tax are just starting to be felt, as families and small business receive their winter electricity bills.

It also should be noted that the latest Roy Morgan unemployment estimate of 10.0% is now nearly double the 5.1% currently measured by the ABS (and quoted by the Government) for August 2012.

No wonder the Government needs a distraction.

Hypothetical - if jones had said this comment about another person or a political party .... Would we have the same uproar ?

Just putting it out there ...

I don't agree with what he said but I think as we lead to believe ... She is tough enough to ride it though .

Just labour keep going on about it like getting hit with a stone in a school yard !!!

I think so. Politicians are fair game and most would accept that as part of the job, but to bring someones recently passed father into the discussion is beyond the pale.
Personally IDGAFF about Jones. He is in Sydney for a start, and I wouldn't listen to him even if I could. Besides if Jones said the sun was going to rise tomorrow I'd seek a second opinion.

personally, i dont care who he said it about, it is disgusting. my wife recently lost her mum. if someone had tried to suggest that my mother inlaw (who i didnt get along with) somehow died due to embarrassment or whatever caused by her daughter, id seriously consider physical violence against them. i have seen what my inlaws have gone through losing their wife and mum, and i honestly have sympathy for our PM on this issue.

however, having said that, this oxygen thief is paid to make outrageous statements on air. im not sure if he actually meant what he said, or just misjudged where the line in the sand is on this issue, i suspect the latter (i refuse to accept that someone could be that much of a bottom feeder to believe it). i also agree with LL that she is tough enough to ride it out, i just dont think she should have to.

attack her on her job performance, attack her on her parties performance, but leave her grieving out of it. by becoming a polititian people give up much of their right to privacy, however something like this should still be left alone. neither "side" should be trying to score political mileage out of someones death. and that goes for the media too.
