I think that Haddin's level is the shield and that he should not wear the Baggy Green again. Wade's time has come.

I disagree. Haddin is the best batting keeper we have. And we need him to beat the poms next year,

If we go with the same players we'll get the same result. No Hughes, Haddin or Johnson for the Poms.

Not necessarily - you have to weigh up the form, history and potential of all options when it comes time to pick the squad. A lot of cricket is to be played before then.

Lyon to captain as Redbacks name two possible debutants

Australian Test spinner, Nathan Lyon, will captain the West End Redbacks in the absence of Johan Botha, in South Australia’s first Bupa Sheffield Shield match for season 2012-13.

Selectors have today released the Redbacks squad to play against the XXXX GOLD Queensland Bulls starting at the Gabba on Monday 1 October.

In a new leadership structure, Lyon (24), along with Phillip Hughes (23), will become joint vice-captains under new captain, Johan Botha.

Lyon will captain South Australia for the first time on Monday with Hughes vice-captain.

Hughes, who signed with the West End Redbacks for three years in June, will be representing South Australia for the first time in all forms.

Speaking at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, Redbacks coach, Darren Berry said that while the pre-season has been successful, the challenge was for the group to start on a winning note against last season’s Bupa Sheffield Shield champions, Queensland.

“We’ve had an outstanding pre-season. For the southern states, we have limited preparation sometimes because of the weather, but with the pre-season Darwin trip and three good matches in Brisbane, there are no excuses now,” Berry said.

“The challenge now is to take the good form up to Brisbane against the reigning champions. No doubt they’ll start favourites and we are the underdogs in this contest, but we believe that our group is ready.”

Emerging Redbacks all-rounder, Sam Miller is set to make his debut for the Redbacks after a standout pre-season, while Redbacks rookie pace bowler, Daniel Worrall is also a chance.

Miller, a 24-year old left handed batsman and right arm fast bowler, was runner-up in the Bradman Medal last season playing for Prospect Cricket Club.

In a four-day trial game in Brisbane against the Warriors in early September, Miller top scored in the Redbacks first innings with 116.

Backing up against the PKF Tasmanian Tigers in a one-dayer, Miller fell just short of another century, making 96 in the Redbacks’ total of 334.

Worrall also impressed during the Redbacks trial matches in Brisbane, taking 3/26 against the Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers in a one-dayer.

“Miller has been a really interesting one because he wasn’t in our original state squad, he was in the emerging Redbacks squad,” Berry said.

“When we were up in Darwin, Miller was playing the off-season up there so myself and Jeff Vaughan went and watched him play and we were so impressed with what we saw, we invited him to join us for what was the last month of preparation.

“We took him to Brisbane and he was the standout player against quality opposition. It’s a great story.

“He’s jumped ahead of a lot of people and that’s what we’re about; we will reward performance and people doing the right things.

“Worrall is a nippy fast-bowler with a bit of an old fashioned, angled approach to the wicket.

“He’s a very aggressive type of player. Throughout the pre-season he’s been a standout bowler in the group.”

Shocking morning for Tas. No wickets in the first session.

Would have backed them in for 350+ with their batting lineup but 450 is a stretch.

Hughes technique is still rubbish. Johnson still can't hit the pitch and Haddin still capable of playing dumb get out shots at the worst moment so I stand by my comment.

No arguments there, none of those 3 have learnt their lesson.
Expect the same result against the Poms if these 3 play

I will never forgive Brad Haddin for that shot against South Africa when we made 47.
