To often this season, the Eagles forward line looked short of threat without Treeby and Rimmington; That must be a priority for the Footy dept. to address now.

Remind me why we got rid of Todd Miles again? Perhaps to go some way for thanking North for Adam Grocke I suppose.

Anyway, that 2nd ruck position certainly is priority. If whoever the recruit is can play key back then even better and a pinch hit up forward now and again. Hopefully Staple and Fitzgerald lead the key forward positions next year with contributions from Grocke considered a "very important" bonus. His workload has been huge for a long time and that started to show this year.

Todd Miles was a useful backup ruckman who was tried in key positions but just dropped too many marks. North offered him more money and have made him into a solid full back, whereas Greiger obviously was a success in his 3 years mainly at full back for the Eagles.
There has been some talk of a young defender from Victoria who has probably been signed up to start with the Eagles asap, which helps the pain of seeing Miles do so well for the Roosters! Let's hope Godden fast tracks this prospect as we definately need some cover back there with Thompson likely to be gone or playing AFL regularly.

Got told the Eagles were after him a couple of months ago, also Borholm from westies

That would be borholms 3rd club.

Would be disappointed to lose Bomber but can understand if he wanted to leave as he probably hasn't had the opportunities he has deserved with us.

Despite it possibly being his 3rd club, he is a loyal bloke and could have left to play amateurs/country footy for a hell of a lot more money but stuck at it in the reserves hoping to get a call up.

Wish him well if he was to go to the eagles.

Bomber has some rough edges, but love his competitiveness. He should probably consider a return to Unley. Not much happening with their rucks.

Just got into the 5RPH Studios for the League Teams Show (on 1197am tonight from 8pm) and got a couple of letters sent in from listeners of the show...

One letter, in particular, was from a Central fan saying that the Dogs are going to lose a few players next year, some to to other clubs:

- Chad O'Sullivan and Matthew Westhoff to North Adelaide

- Jay Nash to Sturt

- Andrew Hayes will move interstate with his radio work at Nova

- Trent Goodrem will return home to Melbourne (even though he is from Sydney)

- James Gowans to be an Assistant Coach to Tony Bamford at the Port Magpies

- Chris Gowans to be the Senior Coach at Central

Interesting to see if any of them actually come to fruition as the off-season approaches...

Will Nash go to Sturt before the reserves prelim on Sunday? Maybe switch at half time if things don't look so good? "Accidently" kick a couple the wrong way?

If Nash ended up at Sturt that would be at least 3 good recruits they're likely to procure (inc Croad who's already over the line) .. With 1st pick in the Mini to further add to their large number of AFL listed players, they could be vastly improved in 2013.

Since Miles left the Eagles, they've had premiership success with Grieger and McKenzie holding down key positions down back. Somehow I don't feel the Eagles are feeling the pain of getting rid of player that would rather chase money.

I think that is a little unfair on Miles. I have heard both Godden and Miles say that they discussed his future and come to the mutual agreement that he wasn't in the Eagles best team and would be better off seeking other opportunities. If that is correct I don't see that as getting rid of a player that would rather chase money but rather all parties taking a pragmatic approach.

Miles clearly has improved in his time at North which is not unusual for a big man in his mid 20s.

South did not mention that Cross & Ainger had signed up again in their B & F summary. As I understand it they were keen to do so but have not been able to convince them to stay yet. Not a good sign for Panthers.......

Agree rig. Watching him at the Eagles he was a bit of heart-in-mouth every time he went near the ball, but was really impressed with his surety over the last couple of weeks. Effort and heart has never been questioned.

I have been advised that both cross and singer have committed to the panthers for next season, which means the entire list will go around again. Not sure if any other club in the league has secured it's entire list yet?

Any truth in the rumor that the magpies are still to sign their coach, and that they have only signed 2 players? I also hear suckling is on the way home after the grand final? Any red legs know any different?
