With him gone maybe they can get real and drop the prices to see minor round matches to $5 or $6 no more!
Under 18 free and concession half price $3
Even finals should be $6 tops! The Granny $10.
With food, drinks and grog prices as is, surely thats where you make your profit, but people have to be through the gate first and not in for free late in the game.

Not sure he was making too many decisions on his own at SANFL. Surely items such as ticket prices and the draw are not decided by one person. Agree that these two issues have hurt the comp but not sure we should lay all the blame at the feet of one man. Hope the next guy places greater emphasis on giving supporters what they want but there is a chance we may just get more of the same if they come from within SANFL.

I have to agree with him in the article.
None of it is his fault - it's Norwood and Westies fault.
Jarman is right but he didn't go far enough.
Once the AFL licences go, the SANFL become a minor organisation, broke and drowning in bureaucracy and debt.

Agree. Members need to be telling their clubs exactly that. I hope we get a new coach next year and I hope it's a former player who knows the comp and looks to attack.

I was told by a former club official, that the SANFL aren't to blame for this, it's what the clubs wanted.

Not our club - I know we strongly opposed it because of the likely decrease in crowd numbers. Although there are other factors as well, a price increase doesn't help!

I agree .. I have no idea whether my mail was correct, but it wouldn't surprise me given the number of clubs in need of extra $$ (not that an increase will help that if volume drops)

Does Leigh Whicker know about any of this stuff or is he still out to lunch with A Demetriou?

Unfortunately folks, Darren Chandler didn't answer his phone this evening so we were unable to speak to him on the show tonight.

Volume must have dropped if I am not the only fan who:

Didn't go to any games I didn't have a ticket too this year, as $14 is too much. There were at least 5 neutral games I was interested in but chose to avoid for $ reasons.

As opposed to last year when I went to 3 such games, buying ticket, food and drinks.

Net loss to SANFL for having stupid walk up prices in 2012 was > $100 for this 1 punter.

Rising insurance costs make it hard to keep prices down- especially Public Liability etc.
SAAFL charge $15 to get into Thebarton Oval- makes SANFL cheap by comparison.

You are comparing a Grand Final to a minor round match?????

SAAFL charge $5 to get into a minor round, deduct the cost of match day (around $500) and return the excess (subject to a minimum of $500) back to the home club.

$15 is too much for a SANFL minor round match

That's a good idea. Then Sturt will go from loosing $300,000 per year to $400,000 per year!

Unless the club gets all it's food donated for free, I think you mean "gross loss"

I cant see how $14 is keeping people away when most facilities are being upgraded. Is it just apathy? Food prices are resonable, $5.50 for a beer is not bad and you dont have to pay to park. At Elizabeth you get free secure parking within a minutes walk to the ground, there is always something for the kids to do yet opposition supporters stay away in droves and our own support is slipping.
AFL crowds are down and they have introduced 2 more teams.

Darren rang me first thing this morning to sincerely apologise for not being able to take our call on the RPH show last night...

He said he was stuck on a delayed flight to Melbourne and had his phoned switched off. We will try and get him on next week, perhaps?
