How do you do your lines FF1992?
With a $50 note?

No, I mean the pitch lines? Do you have a stencil or something? I used a can of spray paint

Crease or pitch?

I made a sort of jig outta a few bits of old timbe i had, nailed them at a certain width, so it was all exact for every line. then just a mater of placing it!

And further to that i used proper grass paint which can be bought from your local sports equipment supplier, IDM etc. gives you that incredible brightness without burning the lawn!

That time is once again here when its time to begin preparation of the seasons backyard cricket pitch.

We've started about a month earlier this year and along with the fact the general lawn health is a bit better we are on track for a killer deck!

I've once attached a few photos for our starting point this year!

On an extra note also we picked up a rotary mower which is doing wonders in getting us a nice short cut!

A must to ensure we can keep them straight and square to each other when they are first starting out! Serious stuff!

Fantastic, isn't it? I bloody wish I lived in your street and not when I was a kid, but now!

Might have to get enthused enough to arrange one of those putting greens in my back yard.

Well done lad.

Good start Footy1992!

I was wondering about getting mine going again.

The missus sprayed out some weeds recently, which has left dead patches in the lawn, but I'll see how I go.

May need a top dress too, and once more, I will be working with the dreaded kikuyu.

However, with a roller in the arsenal, and an earlier start, I'm sure I can reproduce a better deck this time around!

EDIT: And my dog ate one of the wooden bails, so that will need replacing! Ack!

We sprayed a large 1m square patch at the end of last year where some dreaded kikuya had began to invade. Thats mostly filled itself in now with wintergrass (plus its on the outfield) so eventually when we get a load of sand loam we will cover it over. We've only top dressed the batting creases at this stage, screeting thm off to try and get them as flat as possible!

Between regular mowing and some good quality fertilizer hopefully this year will come up better!

Cant wait to use the new mower (actually was told its 60 years old yesterday by the lawnmower shop) and have a nice flat close cut, with lines!

I agree.
Close shaved grass top, alternatve strip, stump cam, painted creases! Fantastic!
I'd actually like to hear about the scores being made there at '92 Stadium. Team scores, or individual scores; to give an idea on how it plays.
P.S I reckon you should make something out of wood to go over the window. (actually I don't know about Oz, but wood's pretty cheap here in Japan)
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
