Cause Lofty pay more than the Eagles$!

Cool, I hope we can re-visit the $$ subject
And for the record, I'm sure A LOT of teams in the hills would pay more than SANFL clubs.
Floreani knows some lads at Lofty.

I wish I knew some lad$ at Lofty! Probably wouldn't have a mortgage!

Dont right off the mighty lofty. Gordon, Fleet, Bawden, Grosser, D Stapes, Wait, M stapes all to come back. They will come home strong. You can win all the games u want during the year but its the last couple that count the most. Just look at our under 17's. I doubt the coach is stressing to much.

Lofty.. Sorry but it was the only game I saw this weekend

Postby dangermouse » Mon May 07, 2007 5:30 pm

From what I saw the problem lofty had early was not that their big forwards were absent- it just wasn't getting down there. Lofty have a super midfield in Trzesinski, White, Burch, Wood, Peterson-Grey, Floreani, Artis, Cutting etc, but they just didn't get the job done in the first quater. When they did get on top in the midfield (after 1/4 time) then they had no-one to kick to and their lack of big targets to convert forward thrusts became the issue. And with this talk of Uraidla recruits- don't forget Marcus Anderson, he was the difference early, consistently winning the ball in close. I'm sure Lofty will welcome with open arms all there big gun forward targets when they are fit, but the midfield need to start winning some hard footy early to give their forwards a chance and backline a break. Does anyone who saw the game disagree?

Some good points, DM.
But I don't reckon it was so much the hard ball gets. Uraidla had this approach where one or 2 (MAX) went in for the ball. A couple were there for the first give, then one would peel off (very quickly) and be a handball away and would straighten up with a kick to CHF. This kick was ALWAYS (in the first qtr) under absolutely no pressure. It was a case of 2 teams that are used to their onballers getting first purchase and ASSUMING that they'd get it out of the pack.
Your comments re lack of fwds after quarter time is spot on.
If Fleet plays next week, he may well kick a bag against the Dorfs, but against the stronger teams he may find himself on the bench.

big fella

I'm assuming you're from Nairne. I'm not about to start bagging you and your club, but blokes are just commenting here on the Lofty game for 2 reasons:

1. it was the GF rematch and a much anticipated game that plenty of people went along to, and
2. there are a lot of Mt Lofty people on this thread.

you can do 2 things to sort it out if you don't like all the lofty talk:

1. get more Narine and Country footy people on this forum to even up the balance - seriously, we (Mt Lofty people) are interested in country footy, or
2. don't read the thread.

I've said it so many times it's like a broken record, WE AREN'T JUST GOING TO COMMENT ON SUBJECTS WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ie country footy or your club (unlike plenty out there commenting on the $ issue).

If you want us to start making up stories about your club, say the words because I could literally think up THOUSANDS of stupid stories that are totally fictional that wouldn't make any of us any wiser.

It would certainly keep me entertained though.

Your choice!

HAHA no friday night was a quiet one. Rolled the ankle pretty badly 5 mins in so came off and strapped it up. Couple Panadol and she was ok. Meant i had the turning circle of the titanic though! Only 50 50 for this week. No excuses though just had quietish day. Like you said gr8 to see when someone has down day others step up. Hopefully all the other lads injuries come up cos will be big game against Onkas. Interesting game considering its at Ironbank.

Its not like Lofty lost to some poor teams. They did get beaten By Uris and Onkas. Don't think we should jump off em just yet.

Apology

Postby dangermouse » Mon May 07, 2007 6:28 pm

I do apologize for discussing a hills football match on this thread- it is hardly the place for that! Remember- info about any club is good for every club.

how did the junior inter league guys go yesterday? Interesting to note the selection of the u17s team compared to the squad that trained the previous week...

HFL Under 15's had a strong win, while the Under 17's went down to a very strong RM outfit.

Sad to see Kersbrook demolish Gum by close to 200 points. Once a great rivalry. Hardly surprising though.

Dont want them to be the next Milang.

Uris for the div 1 flag :P
SAFC- 60 years...
StKFC- 58 years..

with all this talk of $$$$ and lofty, made me think about uraidla. i don't agree with the amount of imports at either club but uraidla are getting aroud the $ issue to easily. everyone is having a go at lofty, myself included but surely the demons and parker would be paying a similar amount. any 1 from lofty as they played uris last week notice how many locals? last time i saw them l boyle was playing b grade and he was the most talented jnr they had and should be playing a grade

No LVIS Kangarilla will definately be there! Echunga started very well last year too but i do think they have a lot of work ahead if they are to be competetive come the business end!!!!!!!!!!

It was very wet when Echunga beat Kangarilla. Are Kangarilla that poor in the wet? Great win to you guys, interesting to see how Echunga go against Nairne this week. Did they have a few out? You have played both teams who do you think will come out on top?
