Did anyone else think one of them should have worn a clash jumper ?

Norwood were the higher ranked side so I would have liked to see West in their red clash jumper and if not, Norwood wearing theirs ;) ;)

Glad you liked it.

Watched the second half and Norwood were attacking as much as they could. A Norwood v North GF could be a great game.

I've felt all year West wouldn't win a flag playing that rotten style. There aren't points for playing pretty, but I don't remember a premiership team that was unable to create goals themselves. No doubt teams have done it to varying degrees over the years but West need to find an avenue to goal and playing 2 loose in defense all game won't cut it. I thought they were ordinary against Centrals and we could have won that game, bad as we played. I normally back the second semi loser in the prelim but this year I just don't see it happening unless Collins frees them up and gives them a chance.

Interesting someone commented before about both Norwood and West having 8 defenders, were both sides seriously playing 8 against 4 in defense? Or did the poster really mean Norwood didn't man up West's loosies meaning it was 8 against 6 at one end and 6 against 4 at the other. I dare West fans who think "both sides do it" every week to count the number of defenders and forwards and see which side really is sacrificing their attack.

North would be my flag favourite easily on yesterdays appalling contest between these two.

West would have been the only team capable of not scoring enough to beat Norwood yesterday.

I doubt Bassett will make it at AFL level if that is his coaching style when finals come around. Terrible.

We had only 2 less inside 50's than North today.
Trust me we were trying to score

Having seen your club turned into a Roman Legion square on the field by Emporer Bassett, it's win ugly regardless. Your team only really scores once the other team has lost it's way and either goes defensive too far ( West ) or runs out of pressure on the ball.
I maintain your the best team but you have to show it, purists can't rate you until you play football not rugby league with 18 on the field!
Like West, your coach is an Ego-maniac........ At least you will both have new coaches next year :)

He means look at the AFL and how it's mostly played at speed to blow through any rolling defensive zones.

' But make no mistake, the SANFL will be extremely worried . The second semi final was a complete bore between two sides who play a brand of football which takes entertainment out of the game.
Their plans are built on numbers behind the ball and plenty of bodies back in defence, and the concern is what impact it will have on crowds-especially if the tactic becomes even more prevalent.'

Disgraceful advertisement for SANFL footy, Westies are a good side who are being coached out of premiership contention and Norwood are the best side in comp who are being coached to satisfy the coaches AFL ambitions. If these two teams were given their heads to play attacking footy with the aim to kick more goals more than the opponent this game would have been great to watch, instead we got a game that satisfied 2 coaches ego's.

Norwood are the best drilled side in the comp particuarly their group of midfielders who clearly are a step above what Westies had to offer.

As for the game plans well they've gotten Norwood to a Grand final and Westies to a prelim so far so you have to take that into account.

Having said that when two teams with that style play each other as we saw yesterday the spectacle is little short of a disgrace.

It's a bit like watching a Geoff Boycott or Chris Tavare playing cricket, mind numbing at times. You would think there is a responsibility to the game in there somewhere.

But the game will evolve out of this junk let's hope sooner rather than later.

What a lot of crap written here.
One side ruined that game not two. Norwood won by 40+ points with over 20 shots at goal, if we kicked straighter no one would be complaining about the lack of scores. West elected not to try and score, not Norwood.
At 3/4 time we were expecting West to go on the attack and have a crack at winning but no, same game plan was very surprising. Only a fool does the same thing over and over and expects a different result.
Finals are meant to be tough, not all games are shoot outs. Why is it this type of game evolves against West and not Centrals, Eagles, North ?
For the sake of football I hope North can win next week ..... then you will see a different game !

I find it funny that the first GF in many to not have centrals in it is being touted as potentially the most boring game in the history of football.

I watched a Under 16's Grand Final on the weekend where Brighton had 3 loose players in defence.
