No. Sorry LF, I don't agree. Racer did an awesome job, but at the cost of him running into the other 50 zone to help kick goals.
Lofty backline were great, but the Uraidla tactics around the ball were bloody smart.
But I think Lofty can beat them next time, given some goal-kicking forwards eg Wait or even a Lachlan Fleet from a HF flank.
This year looks like being a cracker, I still think Onkas, Lofty and Cabbage are the 3 to catch, but it sounds like IB and Blackwood have improved immensely.

I entirely agree, but for someone to hold J Brown to only 3 goals is quite a feat, seeing he was the leading golakicker last season. It was racers SPEED that clearly helped him, he may be wasted in the backlines, true, but racer isnt a goal scorer, he only got a couple of goals in the whole season last year.

Yeah, fair point. But I think Racer really helps Loftys forays into the 50. Their problem now is actually converting.
I think Hahndorf may cop a real flogging this Sat night with Lofty on the rebound.
And who's the bloke for Blackwood kicking 15!? When was that last achieved in CENTRAL HFL?

Blackwoods win on the weekend wasn't mentioned much. Were Bridgey that bad or are Blackwood a challenge to the top 3 this year.

Uris will be very hard to stop this year. They will be on a mission after losing the GF. Lofty forward line continually sounds like a bit of a problem area. THere is a heap of talk of Lofty recruits...... Are they struggling a bit with the Hills style of footy or not gelling together well? Will it take a few weeks for the team to click?

Barker looking a lot stronger than everyone supposed. The comp is looking pretty good this year all of a sudden with Barker and Blackwood looking like more of a threat and the Thunderpants also capable of an upset or two on their day. The top 6 will be hard to squeeze into 5 come finals time. Hahndorf, Shanty, Lobey and Birdwood should start organising their early footy trips now by the looks of things.

Re: Shutz
After last years wind up punch that sent the supposed "tough man" crying to the sideline, rumour is that teams will be bringing in Rob O'Gorman for 1 game cameos each week against Lobethal.

No real mention of Carberry's 15.1 on the week end- a big turn around- couldn't buy a goal against Ironbank!! He could prove to be a vital cog in the Turtle's plans. Gigney again in the best two good talls at either end of the ground. Are Blackwood the real deal??

I'd expect him to get a call up for that game. Schutz would cud his dacks if Robbo lined up on him from the start.

And Scott Sutherland is such a dead set smoker of the pork sword. Didn't see the game or the incident, but he's been playing with himself and probably others for years.

Schutz should play in the Southern league - the boys down there would sort him out pretty quickly. He loves the kick and trip and from the few games i have played in Southern they don't mind throwing a few and he would definately get belted early on.
Watched Echunga and Meadows yesterday. Meadows very impressive Ryan Hunter towelled up the young Brother in law. Best player he would have played on so far as he is only 17 and definately a game for him to learn from.
Chad Dawe too strong at CHF.
The usual meadows boys set the game up early The Reid brothers, Morrisey and Tarque Williamson add strength. Ty maidment , the big former Milang ruckman Dan Abraham. Medows will be hard to beat on their smaller oval with these big blokes.
Echunga a smaller , fast running side will be good on the larger ovals and will definately play finals and depending on the venues for finals could prove a smoky at finals time - don't right them off after one bad game.

Yes any team who does not have at least a 6'4" fullback had better start looking he is a monster. It goes to show the Thunders two tall young guns did a fantastic job on him in Game 1. Although I think it was a combination of them and the pressure put on to their midfield stopping easy delivery that has improved this year. While the one big gun was negated the downfall for IB was with the other at CHB.

I was expecting the same from Lobey but Hibbard was just a fat Smithy and Coad went off injured at half time. Another youngster came up trumps this week. Steve Harding the B grade medal winner did not loose a tap and covered a lot of ground to fill in holes in defence on the Big Lobey oval. With all these youngsters I am going to look forward to the away matches on the bigger ovals this year. Perhaps bring Donks in for the home games?

Mop Up what happened to you on Saturday? Big Friday night? I still think you are playing on the wrong wing for a Lefty!
Although it is great to see that one slows and others come to the table. Will be interested to see Onka's this week.

ArmyTank big captain's first quater, I bet you are sore today! You really put your body in when it started and I think one of the reasons they droped off the longer the game went. Pity I did not have a B& F card this week you would have got some votes from me.

Alaska - You are spot on about big Stevie's effort on Saturday, just kept winning taps and dragged himself around the ground all day. Not shy to lay a tackle or get down to pick the ball up and dish out a handball either.

You are right about me being a bit sore today as well, although it is mainly from me jagging my back during the warmup lap before the game! The b grade fitness level is something we have never had before and it is paying off early in the year.

I am not sure about Mop Up though, I think he is actually on the proper wing for a left footer - it will force the ball to come back to the centre of the ground instead of around the boundary, two schools of thought I suppose. There were patches of brilliance from Mop Up during the day I thought and it is good to see the confidence he has to take on players running out of the back lines and having a couple of bounces.
I hate Full Back.....................

How did Jon Flo go for Lofty. He is far to good for hills footy should be playing league football still, As a life long Eagles fan Hope he does well and will keep a look out. Why did he go to Lofty does anyone no?
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Floreani is a good player, but he is only a little fella. I hope he doesn't get swept away with the river that will run down the oval if it keeps raining.
Any of the injured Devs back this week?
How is Anthony Cooper going so far this year?

Cool, I hope we can re-visit the $$ subject
And for the record, I'm sure A LOT of teams in the hills would pay more than SANFL clubs.
Floreani knows some lads at Lofty.
