Right to the end of Jimmy's reign in SA footy we could rely on whufc sticking in the boots!

In case you missed it, he again won the R O Shearman Medal as voted by the leagues 200 game plus club - 6 out of 6 plus, he again led the league in possessions - 6 out of 6 again.

Yep gets cheap easy kicks!

whufc is lacking the same graciousness you are, by carrying on with this crap?

Start a REO SPEEDWAGON thread or whatever medal it's called to bang on about Jim Allan.

Well your last comment is condesending and insulting and I would expect better from you smac? Whatever you or others think, Allan has earnt all he has got and will be remembered for a long time as one of the greats of the SANFL.

Missed the point! Don't sledge others about being disrespectful if you can't return the courtesy.

I think that is the specific point of argument in this conversation, which you can't dismiss by just restating your opinion.

How long has he been here? 6 years? So I've probably seen him play 15 times, plus a final or two? And North fans have seen him, what, 120 times? I'll leave it to them to judge his worth over time. I guess I've seen him do a lot of the Scott West style give-it-to-the-guy-under-pressure-so-he-has-to-give-it-straight-back, which may contribute to a high possession count, but I've also seen him use the ball very well by foot. And as Centurion suggested previously, there's a place for outside players too, especially when their delivery is clever and tight.

Congrats on the RO, no surprise on the Magarey for mine, not the best season for him even if he is among the best players running round.

Out of curiosity, did he bring a girlfriend to the Magarey this year? Seems to have gone alone for the last few years. Must be a tough man to tag!

If you mean did Jimmy Allan bring a girlfriend, no he didn't.
Soders asked him about his ritual of throwing up quite often at three quarter time (I think). Jimmy said beside nerves he also doesn't have a very good diet, he eats a lot of junk food (jokingly). He also said he's never had a girlfriend to cook for him

How does the RO Shearman Medal work?

Is it every 200 gamer that is still alive that votes?
Do they vote at end of season?

If this happens i wouldnt imagine to many of the 200 gamers seeing too many games for the year.
This is even worse than the GWS best and fairest if this is the case

They vote during the season. With the Gowans twins retired next season potentially 2 new people to vote on this award......

Doesn't seem the most accurate way of finding the best player for a season... I think a current player vote is a better system.

One 200 gamer votes on every game. e.g. South and Central at Noarlunga Stewie Palmer might be chosen to cast the votes. I guess it is the same as one Advertiser journalist votes on each game for their award. I find it strange that players who have played 200 games of SANFL footy and you would think no the game rate him so highly and yet a few posters here and a couple of Advertiser journalists who have never played the game don't rate him. I know whose opinion I would respect more.

Correction. From the NAFC website "The R.O Shearman Medal, prior to this season, was judged by the SANFL’s 200 Club members, however this season it was judged by the League Coaches at each game. This Award therefore holds unbelievable credibility within the competition, having those who are experts and closest to the game judge the players they believe were the most outstanding on the day."

I concur with those sentiments.
