In the 2007 second semi final at Victor, Langhorne Creek beat Willunga by 10 goals and Willunga won the second semi last year. The recent history of these clubs would suggest that the second semi is not a good predictor of the grand final result.

Bays did well in the 2 term to hang in there and stay in touch but wouldn't be surprised to see Yank run away with it in the 2nd half.

Spot on G.A.

One would think the weeks rest would be a huge advantage but results in recent times don't neccessarily support that theorey.
2007, Creeks were undefeated as well when they lost the GF.

Creeks will start slight faves against whoever they play but history shows it's still wide open for premiership honours.

No problems
Final score was
Yankalilla 15-12-102 vs Encounter Bay 10-6-66
with the Bays kicking a goal after the siren.
Was a very good, quick running game
Well worth the drive to the Creek
Bays won most of the centre rucks but Yank cleared most of them through Ryan Lewis and Lewis Two Dads.
Yank No 20 (Matt Wilson?) dropped a lot of marks he should have taken - could have kicked 10 today
Being neutral - the sandy hair umpire made some very strange calls especially some of his high hit frees - he did nothing about 2 bad ones to a couple of Yank players right in front of him (and me) in the first quarter and then pulled a trip out of thin air - the Bay player actually tripped over his own feet.
Willunga v Yank will be good next week.
If Yank get through, they'll have home ground advantage which will make it a lot closer than last week

Creeks would prefer to play Willunga in the GF you'd think.
If Yank get thru to the GF on their home ground they'll have deserved it and whilst some would say thats worth a goal or two advantage to them it certainly wont be the deciding factor in the result.
Will be devastating for whichever team doesn't make it thru to the GF.
Willunga after losing the last 2 and then being eliminated in straight sets after only losing 1 minor round game.
Yankalilla to finish 2nd with only 2 losses and then not get a home GF which can only happen every 10 years now.

Nothing against Willunga but the atmosphere will be so much better if Yank get thru.

Any news of any Injuries out of the weekends matches?

Chandler for the Creeks looks likely to be ruled out for the GF after a recurring hamstring ? injury for the 3rd time this year. Pretty unfortunate for him as he missed last years premiership with the same injury.

King from yank pinged a hammy. Lewis also had ice on his hammy after the game after he went off early.

If Yank are 100% I think they would get over the line by 12 points. Though any outs and I lean to Willunga with the depth of their team being their big asset. If Yank do have a couple out then I think Willunga by 15.

The depth you talk of OM is definately a factor this is a direct result of a imported side compared to home grown (mostly)demon side True? Not having a go at the tigers but is this the case people...I wish Yank all the best and hope they win it but if they do and the money tree dies what then ? cant see any vineyards surrounding yanks oval.

Hey Dogs, Do I detect a note of jealousy there mate. Does not just have to be Grapes to pay a player, could be a Bakery, Dairy or for that matter any business that wants to contribute to the heart of a region (the local football club.) Lets also not kid ourselves, all the other clubs are paying players, the amount of players may vary from club to club but im sure the best at each club are well looked after. Unfortunately clubs with money will often succeed but I have seen many clubs fail in trying to buy a flag. Whats more if the club paying the money is not social or for that matter unfriendly a paid player will not stick around no matter what he is being paid. Lets just enjoy the quality of the football that these good players bring and continue to see this competition go from strength to strength.
I have watched a lot of footy in a lot of comps, in the city and country, and by far this is the best. Its that way for one reason, the players that are in it.

Kimusabi, Very sad mate if you need to find a fault in paying players to play for your club. If this was not the case there would not be the great comp you have. if you want to go back to the dark ages and have a local comp only then you would get what you deserve. Its been going on for years so best you get used to it.

You guys make good points, you have to look at any country footy league theseday and the successful ones in the GSFL and other leagues make payments to some of their better players, in which thesedays with the standard of the football is a great thing, We have some awesome football players in the league and the better team are successful because of these players.

You cannot expect clubs to rely on their own talent and win flags without bolstering with some "Paid players" otherwise they simply wouldnt be able to win the A Grade flag with the level of competition thesedays.

This makes our league more exciting and has been happeneing for years. Also is great watching some of the talent of ex SANFL players and league footballers, and great watching the young guys play on these guys too and make them earn their bucks!
